I agree. Kid A is great, but The Bends.. That was the first Radiohead album I listened to, and I love it. Not as intriguing as Radiohead's other efforts, but there is something about it.

Since i owned everything King Crimson have ever made... I endorse a style of music where it's less popular, it's not very popular here in constrast to DDD, where it's quite popular.

Also, they already have their prog guys.

Kadakron 05-18-2006 08:23 PM

Fair enough.

How can you guys think Kid A is THAT bad?

boo boo 05-18-2006 09:36 PM

Because when a band ventures far out of their conventional style, it's considered selling out.

Kid A is one of my favorites though.

hiu 05-18-2006 09:53 PM

The Richard Cheese cover of "Creep" is pretty good. But then again "Last Resort" is a good cover too. Oh well.

Selling out?

They did that because Thom was all for it. They haven't done something that extreme since. That's why Thom is releasing his solo album.

Fair enough I suppose even though I would think Ok Computer seems to me like it would be more likable.
But, I dont don't understand why people don't like Pablo Honey I think it's a great album

Kadakron 05-19-2006 02:47 PM

It's good. But not amazing in any aspect.

swim 05-19-2006 02:55 PM

Depends on what you like and what your standards are. The amazing thing about Radiohead is that each album brings something different. I'm partial to Pablo Honey because I think it's more raw than any of their albums.

ibuddha 05-21-2006 01:49 PM

c'mon

The arctic monkeys don't even belong in the same paragraph as Radiohead.

Says the person who included the Arctic Monkeys in the same paragraph as Radiohead.

jambo 05-23-2006 10:57 PM

Venturing out of conventional style is not selling out, it's called progression. And come on, the artic monkeys are ok but every song on "Whatever..." sounds the same, you won't get that with Radiohead.

TrampInaTux 05-23-2006 11:10 PM

No... no it doesn't. I'm an Arctic Monkeys fan so it's pointless trying to tell me that every song on their album sounds the same. Personally, I do not see how you can come to that conclusion.
You can't compare Radiohead to Arctic Monkeys, it is 2 totally different types of music. I listen to them both for entirely different reasons. Radiohead for when I need to feel inspired or for when I need to relax, and Arctic Monkeys in car journeys or when I'm getting ready to go out. Stop the comparisons now, they are entirely different.

jambo 05-25-2006 02:34 PM

Not saying Artic Monkey's are bad, i dont think they should be judged along side radiohead anyway. Riot Van is really stupid.

Sneer 05-26-2006 07:44 AM

the way i see the radiohead collection....

HTTT > OK computer >> The Bends > Amnesiac >>> Kid A >>>> Pablo Honey.

im not keen on pablo honey because basically, there's nothing to it that distincts it from any other british guitar album released in 1992. With exception to Creep.

Kid A is in parts brilliant. National Anthem, In Limbo, Idioteque and Everything in its right place are some of the bands finest songs. yet at times the album just loses me.

Amnesiac is when they get the progression bang on in my opinion. its only 4th because the other 3 are just that bit better for me, but yes, poignant and subtle - yet so powerful.

The Bends i like because its radiohead going mainstream and i feel they did it better then any other band around at the time. they made the britpop squirts look silly with this. plus it has street spirit - my all time favourite radiohead song.

OK computer is a breath-taking album. an emotional rollercoaster. i get lost in it everytime i play it.

HTTT is my favourite purely because i absolutely love every single song - and thats very rare.

The only problem is I don't want to waste time on it when I could be listening to the Arctic Monkey's album. It's sad because I really wanted to like this...

First of all, I gotta tell you that usually what a critic writes about something is wrong. These guys make their money putting great stuff...that might take more than one listen to realize how good it is...down and then rating the average/popular hits high, ya see?The best thing to do most of the time is to go opposite from what they say...lol.If it's great, it ain't great. If it sucks, it doesn't suck...catch my drift.By the way, I think it's sludge too, but since you already agree after listening to it, maybe you don't have to change your mind and go the opposite way now.

TrampInaTux 05-26-2006 02:04 PM

NO NO NO. I LIKE THIS ALBUM. Please read my other posts. I love this album now, it's one of my faves.

hiu 05-26-2006 03:27 PM

It is still very bad in my eyes. How can something so boring be so universially loved in beyond me.

swim 05-26-2006 03:28 PM

Same could be said about some of the music you like so it's just matter of preference.

Apparently someone thinks his opinion matters since he became the grand wizard of our Last.fm cult.

I agree, I liked them for like a week (well a couple of songs) & then it got old. They're overrated and their annoying fanboys piss me off.

Merkaba 05-26-2006 04:20 PM

I like to start Ok Computer at Exit Music.

boo boo 05-26-2006 04:31 PM

One thing i NEVER do with Radiohead is skip tracks, i'm also that way with Pink Floyd.

Stone Magnet 05-26-2006 04:33 PM

I usually skip Airbag and go from there.

Merkaba 05-26-2006 04:35 PM

Guilty. Right here.

I don't like Paranoid Android all that much, and I love Exit Music and everything after it, so I just have a tendancy to start the album there.

Stone Magnet 05-26-2006 04:49 PM

You don't like Subterranean Homesick Alien? http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/h...icons/ohmy.gif

Merkaba 05-26-2006 04:54 PM

Haha of course I do, but for no real reason I tend to forget about it.

Truth.

"They suck. They suck like the wind"

That was pretty good I must admit. But the article itself is bulshit. Just another journalist sitting in his corner with some ICP blasting.

Raine 05-26-2006 05:29 PM

It's all about perspective.
I'm gonna be honest, I like Radiohead but I don't like them enough to buy any of their CD's and the ones I do have I either burned or someone bought for me.
My favorite song is Karma Police (or something like that)
They're like Dave Matthews band, just not worth it. Although I've seen them live sevral times at LalaPalooza back before that tour got cancelled and they rocked. I always loved their ability to kinda sorta hypnotize an audience. They just have that an effect.
They rock live. Although that's probably because of all the alcohol I consumed that day but still they did rock. .

Peace

^^^

Nor does the opinions of a journalist that arrogant, not liking Radiohead is one thing, but calling them a untalented band is just plain f*cking wrong.... When its coming from you of all people, who appreciates nothing but sugar coated garbage, it's quite offensive.

You'd consider black flag sugar coated garbage? Seriously, why give him crap 'cause he likes shakira? He likes tons of other bands you guys worship (minutemen for example). Its kind of unfair he can't have an opinion on something 'cause he likes Shakira. I agreed with him and no one told me to shutup and i've admitted to being a Backstreet Boys fan.

Who's dissing The Backstreet Boys? Let me at 'em! Let me at 'em. Those damned ignorant foools
If it weren't for the fact that you were conceived to an R Kelly song you would've been conceived to a Backstreet Boys song.
And Shakira rocks. Us Lebanese women gotta stick together.

(My opinion remains unchanged. I am partial to Radiohead and I don't like them enough to buy any of their albums. that would be a waste of money)

Peace

Well, hardcore bands aside, he/she/it still likes a lot of the bubblegum tween pop, at first i thought it was a joke, over time i realised i was wrong... Meh, maybe i'm ranting, we all have what can be considered an aqquired taste by someone else, me especially, but bashing everyone from Radiohead to The Beatles to Led Zeppelin and then praise Shakira and then bash other peoples taste in a hypocritical manner and brag about how his/her/its taste in music is more diverse than someone elses is something i consider to be sacrilage, punishable by death.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-26-2006 07:16 PM

Why all the pop bashing just because hui likes Shakira?

I`d take The Jackson 5 over Emerson Lake & palmer any day of the week.
