In my opinion, their talent goes to an extent. They play their music and they are good at playing THEIR music. I'm not personally a fan but I do have a few mates who are fans, not die-hard...But fans none the less. I myself am not very interested in their first 3 albums...I think their newer stuff is a little better. Best album for me would be Amnesiac from around 2001 or 2002 or something. Alot of those songs I think are more indie influenced but none the less, still interesting songs. "Knives Out" being the best song from that album, the lyrics are interesting and still have a fair bit of meaning to me. "Look into my eyes. It's the only way you'll know I'm telling the truth". The music itself is something they could always improve on, as with every other musician in the world...But in conclusion, I wouldn't recommend anyone listen to them if in search for new and good music...They're good to listen to if you're a fan

Alo 06-13-2006 12:13 PM

Everybody around me loves them, it kind of put me off, so I never listened to them. /hype-hater xD

edit: Though I'm not always a hype hater, just sometimes.

Mr Sensitive 06-13-2006 02:13 PM

You're missing out.

This is the dumbest reason to not like a band. I completely ignore what people say whether it's good or bad and just like what I want to.

jambo 06-13-2006 03:51 PM

That's easier said then done. Your friend might mention a band you've never heard before and say something negative about them. Implicitly, that's going to effect your opinion. But I agree, that is a really stupid reason to hate band. Every genre, including pop, has some very talented musicians and bands. Generally, if a lot of people like something, I mean sincerely, honestly like something, then most likely that thing is gonna be at least decent, right?

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-13-2006 04:03 PM

Hype isn't a silly reason to hate a band at all , especially if you hear that bands worst song about 20 times a day being played everywhere.

I hated Franz Ferdinand for ages because of this.

swim 06-13-2006 04:08 PM

Hold on. You're not making sense. It's not silly to hate a band because of hype and then when you find out they're ok to like them? That sounds pretty silly to me.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-13-2006 04:10 PM

I`m saying I heard one song by them constantly and I hated it.

Why would I listen to more by them if I hated that song and I heard it so much?

swim 06-13-2006 04:15 PM

Ok. Agreed.
Alo, said she never even gave radiohead a listen because of what her friends said. I disagree with that.

boo boo 06-13-2006 04:59 PM

Perhaps it's better to be rephrased, it's silly to hate a band if you have only heard one song.

Kadakron 06-13-2006 05:10 PM

Especially if that song happens to be creep.

jambo 06-13-2006 06:23 PM

Radiohead themselves hate "creep", thats why they wrote "my iron lung" on the bends

Kadakron 06-13-2006 08:04 PM

I like creep. It was just massivly overrated.

ish 06-14-2006 01:29 AM

Creep has to be one of their worst songs...Not including the fact that everyone heard it 25 times a day and it just pissed people off

TrampInaTux 06-14-2006 01:31 AM

I love Creep... but then again it never had as much airplay over here. I suppose the airplay just ruined it for everyone-I still can't understand why people hate it so much. Not their best, but it's still brilliant.

swim 06-14-2006 05:52 AM

I use to like creep, when I was ten. Now that I've heard thousands of times it's really lost its novelty. Being a fan of Pablo Honey I have to say it's the worse song on that album. I don't think it's their worse song they ever wrote. I'd find something worse on The Bends but, that's just my opinion.

Mhhh, the hypes over here are mostly around bad bands. So it's not that I care what they say, it's just that I get influenced.

In another post you said it were my friends who said it. But they actually have a good music taste. It's more the empty headed *whatevers* around here that hype around everything. And that turns me off bands.

edit: Maybe if I listen my opinion will be changed. But because of the hype, I do not feel the urge to listen to it.

swim 06-14-2006 06:05 AM

Well you should check out OK Computer. IMO it's the most listener friendly album I'll pm you a link after I get home.

Alo 06-14-2006 06:11 AM

Ok, thanks! =)

Kadakron 06-14-2006 08:08 PM

I find it the best song on Pablo, but that is their worst album imo.

meh i like em. i didnt take time for me to like 'ok computer', it was pretty much straightaway for me.

Piss Me Off 06-16-2006 09:10 AM

Same for me.

Anybody heard any of their new songs?Apparantly a bit more rocky. I'm guessing they've been bootlegged and are knocking around somewhere...

jambo 06-16-2006 04:57 PM

Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" leaked early, anyone hear it yet? Its real good.

swim 06-16-2006 05:03 PM

^ yep. yep. post links.

Kadakron 06-16-2006 05:18 PM

Yeah. It's really good. More electronic/expericmental than Radiohead though. Kind of KidA-esque.

jambo 06-17-2006 03:36 PM

I used a torrent to get it, try torrentz.com

andy 08-19-2006 08:07 AM

Kick ass band, my favourite band in fact.

I rank the albums in this order

1. Kid A
2. OK Computer
3. Hail to the theif
4. Amnesiac
5. The Bends
6. Pablo Honey

Yorke = teh sex

andy 08-19-2006 08:10 AM

Anyway, Who else honestly thinks that they are the best current band?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 08-19-2006 08:13 AM

an unfortunate amount of people.

andy 08-19-2006 08:18 AM

Who in your opinion is then?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 08-19-2006 08:36 AM

y'know, im not sure.
ive never been able to pick a favourite of my own, so id be screwed in choosing a best current band.
i just feel sure that radiohead wouldnt be it.
i, in no way, see the huge kickup about them. theyre okay, i guess.
every so often. & every few songs...
but whenever someone tries to sway me more towards them, its always the same 7 or so songs that come up.
theyre not as great as everyone makes out, it irritates me is all. puts me off them more than i would be if they werent so huge.

anyway, that was an incessantly pointless waffle.
point is, i dont get it.
& dont go blamin' that on musical ignorance at all, its just taste, i dont see why the constant radiohead orgyfests.

Not I. Close to it though. The Mars Volta are about to put out the best album to come out in a really long time so I put them as number 1.

I recognise your opinion, Radiohead are so highly regarded mostly for their creativity and originality. Pick a band that sounds like Radiohead, I gotcha didn't I? their musical quality is superb, just a fresh sound, so unique.
That's just my opinion on it

The Mars Volta are ok, I'd generally consider Sigur Rós and Radiohead better bands though, just my opinion

Pick a band that sounds like *insert band with unique sound here*. Seriously, just because they're one in a kind doesn't mean they're the shit.

My main problem with radiohead, other then my best friend being a major fangirl (shes worse then a Tool fan >.>) I hate the vocalist, i'd probaly like them better if they had a different singer to be honest.

andy 08-19-2006 12:25 PM

Holy shit, Yorke is my favourite vocalist, I hated him when I first heard ok Computer, after a few listens I bloody loved his voice.

Originality does add to the effect of a good band in my opinion

Haha have you heard the new cd? Its well beyond most bands today.

andy 08-19-2006 01:11 PM

actually I haven't but from many at other forums I have heard that the new Pearl Jam album is better, and IMO anything Radiohead has done besides Pablo Honey and The Bends is better than De Loused, that's just my two cents
