I'm looking for something along the lines of....
In The Woods..., Strange In Stereo
Winds - Of Entity And Mind EP
In other words, symphonic metal.

I suggested this back in the Last Album Bought Or Downloaded Thread but I'll suggest it again.

Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness (2001)

A 60-minute metal epic ode. Features a wide array of guest musicians and some of the best production I have ever heard in my entire life. This is truly one of those albums you go back to and listen to to remind yourself that there still is good music out there. It's a commitment, but well worth the time spent. Headphones are a requirement for the full effect.

A few other recommendations.

Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse (1994)

This came out at a time when Black Metal was more widely known for murder and church burnings. This was one of the first symphonic black metal albums, and one of the major ones that took a different direction from what Mayhem, Gorgoroth, and Burzum were doing at the time. Plus this will most likely be your first experience with the musician Ihsahn, someone dankstra just came into contact with and loved.

Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors (2002)

Another symphonic black metal band from the '90's and '00's that utilized symphonic elements, but were not strictly a symphonic metal band in the same way that Nightwish or Lacuna Coil are. I recently introduced this one to Dayvan Cowboy and she really enjoyed it.

But in all honesty Sljslj I think you're kind of looking more for the sounds found in avant-garde metal bands, especially if you're looking for bands like In The Woods... and Winds, who both share members in this genre. I recently put together a Beginner's Guide to Avant-Garde Metal playlist that I think you should also take a look at, it may introduce you to other bands more fitting the description of the sound you want.

Some music that isn't miserable. Something happy
I don't like most folky, indie, acousticy sort of music. I'm sort of thinking something like Justice.
This sort of Justice:

Or like this:

I love you all.

I'm guessing it's faster than what you want, but I just needed an excuse to post that video

So anyone know of modern day Blues/Blues-Rock bands/artists. Besides The Black Keys, White Stripes and Ronnie Baker Brooks.

Well, I came here primarily with the intention of broadening my musical horizons, so...

At this moment in time, I can't get enough of the White Lies song Death, I was a fan of the first two Killers albums, I enjoy Kasabian, Bloc Party and Editors too. I'd say I like rock/pop anthemic music. I'm also a fan of the likes of Keane, Athlete and Snow Patrol but I find that I'm very much guided towards these types of bands through recommendations of friends and don't really know where to begin in finding new bands to get into. The rest of the acts I'm a fan of I can't really categorise or group together, so I'll just list them: The ****enies, (We Are) Performance, Goldspot, Siobhan Donaghy, Angus & Julia Stone, Ed Sheeran, We Are Scientists amongst others.

I had a last.fm account for a while but deleted it because I was fast becoming obsessed with play counts rather than listening to music for the sake of listening to music; but I did utilise it to try and find bands I would like based on what I listened to, and found a few songs I liked by Guillemots, Vega4, Delays, Thirteen Senses and Morning Runner. I like bass heavy dance tracks too but I get enough of that if I just take a look at the Top 40 in the UK. Anyway, I hope someone can try and assess all of that and send me in the right direction! Cheers

Default My girl and her fantasy :)

In the navy and I haven't seen my fiance in about 6 months. I get to see her in a week and could use some help tracking down some music for some of the "right" moments to ignite some fantasies she has. I have been searching desperately and managed to find 4, could use some help. Basically slow building, kinda rough... the idea would be some of the same music played during some aggressive "playful" scenes from lets say dark style movies like a good vampire love scene. Below are some examples, I would greatly appreciate some help! Thank you All!

Fight Sounds Part 1 - Circlesquare
Today We Are All Demons - Combichrist
Board up the House - Genghis Tron
Lighten Up Francis - Puscifer
