^ why would you wanna jump off a bridge? it's not like it is the most depressing song ever

irishpunkfan 01-18-2005 02:42 AM

most depressing

:jailed: the most depressing artists in the world ever have to be leonard cohen and david gray

blackTshirt 01-19-2005 12:34 AM

^ ok, maybe i'm just too tired, but isn't this reply posted twice?

MUSE girl 01-19-2005 11:15 AM

its just the way i see the song and different people get different things out of it. its just the way it makes you feel.

hookers with machineguns 01-23-2005 12:00 AM

^ so you wanna kill yourself when you hear that song? see, this is why music is not good for impressionable teens. your relationship with your music should be healthier.

MUSE girl 01-23-2005 05:22 AM

meh..... whats the point, you always tend to go back to it in the end.

hookers with machineguns 01-23-2005 08:52 AM

^ You need to stop slitting your wrists and start listening to happier music.

so radiohead fill you with uplifting joy? great band, great songs, great albums- a bit depressing

Sweet Jane 01-23-2005 12:57 PM

Summer music is always happy. My playlist for instant happiness:

Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City
Mongo Jerry - In the Summertime
Genesis - I Can't Dance
The Who - The Seeker
Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry be Happy
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon
Cream - Crossroads
The Velvet Underground - Sweet Jane :)

I still don't see how Leonard Cohen is the most depressing artist, most of his music is pretty upbeat.

can we please not talk about that.

^I might be viewed upon as hatefilled, but I have no sympathy for suicidal-depressed angst. Just because you cannot have all the things you want in life, you want to kill yourself? Happiness is a state of mind, you can achieve it, without having superficial or material rewards. I've had peers around me commit suicide, and personally I cannot sympathize. Even if I tell these people to deal with their problems construcively, they always go back to "no one cares about me", "i have nothing to live for" blah blah nonsense. So to your signature, "ever wanted to die?" No. Not at all. I want to live forever.

I wouldnt think of you as hate-filled, I think you just have a pretty good view on life.

MUSE girl 01-24-2005 12:23 PM

i dont no how you can sit there and write **** like that, if you dont actually no what went on. im not one of these people that wants sympathy because i cant get what i want in life, or that no one likes me bollocks you went on about. I had problems with certain things in my life and i found different ways of dealing with it. i went through alot of councling to sort it out, and now im proud to say i have sorted my life out. i no how i dealed with it wasnt the best way but people cope in different ways, and yes i admit that i have wanted to die before but thats in the past now.
subjects like that arnt easy to talk about,
so dont start on issues like this if you now **** all about them.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-24-2005 12:24 PM

For your own sake, and I mean for your own, dont bring things like this onto the forums. It wont go down well.

MUSE girl 01-24-2005 12:27 PM

i didnt bring it in, someone mentioned it and i said can we not talk about it, then i got all this bollocks about "I cannot sympathize", all i did was put him/her straight on that.
no more is to be said about it then.

hookers with machineguns 01-24-2005 02:27 PM

^ Honestly I wasn't trying to begin an argument with you, I was commenting on your signature and your remark about a song that made you want to "jump off of a bridge." You pretty much brought it upon yourself. What you do with your life/death is your decision. I won't make any further comments on that matter.

zerophyte 01-26-2005 03:48 AM

hey guys who cares, that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread... start it on some other forum.

RedEye 01-26-2005 08:11 AM

'The Eternal' by Joy Division ain't exactly a party song...

sikoholickkouboi 01-26-2005 08:51 AM

"For My Fallen Angel" by My Dying Bride

I couldn't imagine hearing this after actually losing someone, like your wife.

LOL that guys voice is hilarious it sounds like a nasally retard voice.

zerophyte 02-01-2005 11:06 AM

nasally retarded, thats a polite way of putting it alrite.

Soundgardener 02-01-2005 02:41 PM

Hey Im just being honest.

Kurt_Cobain 02-05-2005 11:39 AM

Coldplay, his voice is so....empty and cold. Theres no real emotion there.

Niphridell 02-05-2005 09:37 PM

Whenever I listen to Radiohead's "Kid A" I always get very depressed. *shrug* Couldn't say why.

jibber 02-07-2005 05:52 PM

^ yeah, fake plastic trees is another depressing radiohead song.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-08-2005 12:54 PM

I`d want to jump of a bridge if I found myself buying a muse album

Kurt_Cobain 02-08-2005 01:18 PM

I really find Mad World- Tears for Fears a highly depressing song.

Sneer 02-08-2005 02:54 PM

the song thar depresses me the most is love will tear us apart by joy division. its not so much the song, but the meaning behind it and the sound of his voice- you can tell there is something very much wrong with him just by listening to the chorus.

I feel somewhat the same way about "Isolation" and "Decades."

zerophyte 02-13-2005 04:24 PM

how about the song - Hallelujah (written by Leonard Cohen) - the Jeff Buckley version.. Thats a great song, it can be quite a depressing listen tho. His version especially, with the sad ending rather than the original.

Delicate 02-16-2005 08:54 AM

RADIOHEAD? eh.. WHAT?

Dude what the hell are radiohead even doing in that list. Go have some thinking time. Seriously.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 02-16-2005 09:44 AM

Radiohead are the most chosen band on that list apart from 'other'. You go have some thinking time.

Fenixpunk 02-16-2005 09:59 AM

Johnny Cash's version of NIN "Hurt" is probably the most depressing song i can think of at the moment.

Delicate 02-16-2005 10:16 AM

hullo.. yes ive seen that and i cant understand.. some ppl just have NO clue. *agrees with fenixpunk*.. dude yeah that song is pretty depressing man.

*Sigh* Maybe there are people in this world who think different to you. Its far-fetched I know, but its something to think about. There are obviously aspects of Radiohead that are depressing (to some people).

Delicate 02-16-2005 10:31 AM

meh..good point

the only thing depressing about radiohead is that they've made millions off studio and production tweaking and minimal rock instrumentation. regardless, i still like thom yorke, blah blah
