Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

Just a little poll on the bands u listen to either when you're feeling depressed or that you just find depressing... No, i'm not sick... :) If you want, leave a quick reply saying who you voted for and why you find them depressing.... (and also, their most depressing song)
Any type of music, it doesnt matter....

(Really sry bout the multi-post, i can't remove em... Can some Mod remove em and just leave this one please?)

riseagainstrocks 12-30-2004 09:41 PM

My Dying Bride

"anyone listening" by pennywise is kinda depressing, though pennywise isn't really a depressing band. its about the ignorance of todays average man in a society full of tragedy and hate

Dani Random 12-31-2004 03:25 AM

Not only one of the most depressing pop/rock bands ever, but also one of the most lyrically witty and cynical bands ever is The Smiths. Their most gloomy album in my opinion is the Queen is Dead from 1987. Take this on for depressing: O-Oh Mother I can feel the soil falling over my head, and as I climb into an empty bed; well, enough said. Or another great tune (Never Had No One Ever): When You walk without ease...
On these...the very streets where you were raised; I had a really bad dream...It lasted 20 years 7 months, and 27 days...and I; never, had no one ever. According to me though, The Smiths most depressing song of all is "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" from 1984: In a river the color of lead immerse the baby's head; wrap her up in the news of the world, dump her on a doorstep girl.

I would say The Used are a pretty downer band.. Same with AFI.. their official Fan Club is called the Despair Faction.. I couldnt rightly say though.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-31-2004 01:50 PM

Suicide - Frankie Teardrop

If you can get through all 10 mins of this without losing the will to live I take my hat off to you

Sweet Jane 12-31-2004 02:34 PM

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - I see a darkness

zerophyte 01-01-2005 04:28 PM

i'm surprised at the fact that no-one voted for tool yet tho... I listened to My Dying Bride, but it's a bit heavy to be depressing IMO... maybe tool are too, now that i think about it.
I listened to pennywise and actually found it a quite uplifting song... :) unless you really pay attention to the lyrics... The actual music is bright + fast... good enough tho.
The others i havent listened to yet, but i'll get round to em...

blackTshirt 01-03-2005 03:13 AM

HIM have depressing songs too but listening to them makes me feel calm on the inside and not-so-calm on the outside...not really depressed..it only depresses me when i'm already sad
Placebo's songs don't depress me at all...they're ok to listen to
Nirvana's songs on the other hand are depressing cause they make me think about Kurt's life (even though they shouldn't)

HorryRon 01-03-2005 09:09 AM

Staind

Molasses 01-03-2005 11:52 AM

I voted for Tool, their video clips are really dark. I haven't heard much of them though. A perfect circle is pretty ****ing depressing, the cover of "Imagine" drained alot of life out of me that day.

hookers with machineguns 01-03-2005 02:36 PM

Yeah APC is pretty depressing. Emotive sucked so much I was close to shedding tears.

listen to the raven and the rose

or

the light at the end of the world

saddest lyrics ever.

HorryRon 01-04-2005 07:32 AM

I argee, Perfect Circle, their cover makes me really sad.
I think they missed the whole point of the song re-doing it that way.
There is too much depressing music out there today. The 90's had introsepction but not depression. What is the point of being sad all the time with some of these guys.
Maybe I am just tired of it. After Staind, APC, & Tool you have all these bands that sound like them, Corporate bands, enough is enough. Lets just rock.

Molasses 01-04-2005 07:37 AM

Hahaha, who voted for dashboard...
I guess they could be depressing in the sence that they're really bad.

awesomerock 01-04-2005 08:20 PM

Korn

2tonelol 01-05-2005 06:43 AM

the award for the most deppressing ever MUST go to Leonard Cohen. he could make a clown cry.

Sweet Jane 01-05-2005 09:29 AM

Leonard Cohen's not depressing, they're all pretty slow but if you listen to the music and lyrics most of them are pretty upbeat. The Future's a pretty happy album.

[MERIT] 01-05-2005 10:10 AM

im depressed by a perfect circle because they suck and if i have to listen to them then i am probably contemplating suicide.

sleepy jack 01-05-2005 12:13 PM

riseagainstrocks 01-05-2005 03:17 PM

and they suck...

sleepy jack 01-05-2005 04:01 PM

Thier lyrics dont.

zerophyte 01-05-2005 06:03 PM

yeah, i agree, the lyrics are quite depressing, i like em, for the most part... The singer i dont like tho. He should become a songwriter not singer/songwriter. His voice just doesnt work... :shycouch: They have potential at least

blackTshirt 01-06-2005 04:29 AM

"thank you for bringing laughter back into my life"...you will be mentioned in my prayers haha
don't get me wrong...but there is something wrong with his voice...and i can't close that window...i need help!! now!!

2tonelol 01-06-2005 06:29 AM

Or try Pink Floyd the Wall that is slightly depressing

Amo Pheara 01-08-2005 12:18 PM

Esoteric: : Metamorphagenesis

(Most likely spelt that wrong)

Probably the most dis heartening and uncomfortobaly depressive album i have.

spackers 01-08-2005 10:48 PM

i listen to Falling On A Leap Year - not too well know, (thats why i like him) but he is getting a bit more well known now :(

Greg 01-15-2005 09:34 AM

Just listening to Pale Horse. They make me want to put my head in the oven. Trouble is it's electric and not gas.

Hardcore_Guy 01-15-2005 11:11 AM

none of those bands are depressing... i voted Nirvana, because it depresses me on how they did so terrible and they didnt even try... bad band...... when im depressed, i listen to Atreyu. theyre really powerful. i cant help it. it always works. Atreyu owns.

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 01:44 AM

looks like that amazing band "Other" is winning the polls..

MUSE girl 01-17-2005 12:08 PM

i no you might laugh but there is one song by blink 182 that makes me feel like i wana jump off a bridge.
"All of this"
heres the lyrics.

With all of this I know now
Everything inside of my head
It all just goes to show how
Nothing I know changes me at all
Again I wait for this to change instead
To tear the world in two
Another night with her
But I'm always wanting you

Use me Holly come on and use me
We know where we go
Use me Holly come on and use me
We go where we know

With all of this I feel now
Everything inside of my heart
It all just seems to be how
Nothing I feel pulls at me at all
Again I wait for this to pull apart
To break my time in two
Another night with her
But I'm always wanting you

Use me Holly come on and use me
We know where we go
Use me Holly come on and use me
We go where we know

She's all I need
She's all I dream
She's all I'm always wanting
She's all I need
She's all I dream
She's all I'm always wanting you

Oh again I wait for this to fill the holes
To shake the sky in two
Another night with her
I'm always wanting you
Another night with her
But I'm always wanting you
