No, I didn't write them off. I said it is music that I refuse to like as in the title of the thread. You guys need to calm down. Opinions, taste, preference-none of those seem to sit well with anyone on these boards.

not true. Ignorance on the other hand we can't stand. If you just said I don't like Emo. Then we'd be like. Alright. But you call it a trend, etc. etc. and we prove you wrong. Again. And still you call it a trend. Making you ignorant.

plus you like NIN. Your taste in music is immediatly questionable.

swim 08-04-2006 10:45 PM

When you say you don't like a whole genre that's writing it off.

MURDER JUNKIE 08-04-2006 11:22 PM

The Smiths and Morrissey

Yeah, I said it

Bahahahaha....hahaha...hah.
I will NEVER like The Fray.

Agreed. Nickleback is good. Linkin' Park is decent.
Metallica happens to be my favorite.

I can't understand why people like Nickelback
Linkin Park is ok although I'm reminded of the days when I first joined this place and was still very much deeply in loved with them. Oh the crap I've done to show my support.

And metallica is a great band . . . . .

Ace 08-05-2006 12:27 AM

I duno. I like Chad Kroegers lyrics, and he has a unique style as a vocalist. I'm also a big fan of Alternative rock, so they fit right in with me. I didn't like the Animal song, that's on their new album.

Chad Kroeger annoys me.
The only thing I like by him is th esong he did featuring Saliva for the Spider man soundtrack called hero. And if you liek alternative and thus Nickelback (by your standards) then you'll probably like Theory of a deadman. They're much better

Ace 08-05-2006 12:30 AM

=)) Yeah that song was nice too. I like alot of their older stuff like, Never Again, How You Remind Me, and Leader Of Men, etc.

How You remind Me is tolerable. I lost interest when I heard it one evry radio station and still to this day hear it on every radio station.

Ace 08-05-2006 12:33 AM

Yep, the radio is the main reason songs become boring over time. I've even listened to Nirvana so much, (radio or not), there are lots of times where I search for something else. And that's hard for me to say, since Nirvana would be listed right under Metallica, on my list.

I dunno. I seem to prefer the Melvins to Nirvana. I don't know why.

I actually like their cover of the Teen Spiriit song a lot more than the original as well.

whihch remines, I don't think I'lle evr like the Ataris

Ace 08-05-2006 12:37 AM

I haven't really heard anything by the Melvins, so I duno.
I only liked one song by the Ataris. Same with that Modest Mouse band....Ocean Breathes Salty had a ring to it, but the rest was nonsense.

Modest Mouse I'll tolerate. but If I ever have to drive for two hous listening to them, I guarantee I'll kill some innocent people.
As for the Ataris. I hate them beccause the frontman sucks. the sound of his voice makes me cringe. That and their cover song of Boys of Summer sucked. granted I neevr liked the original anyway.

A band I don't think I'll ever like is the Mighty Mighty Boss tones. I can put up with their music but over long periods of time i go homocidal

Ace 08-05-2006 12:42 AM

=)) yeah the only song that was decent, was the cover. It only took hearing that 5 times though, for it to get old.

MURDER JUNKIE 08-05-2006 12:43 AM

Atari's - Blue Skies Broken Hearts, Next 12 Exits

was a pretty f*ckin good album

A band that I didn't think I'd like a few years ago was Hot Hot heat. I love them.

There's this band called the kaiser Chiefs. They annoy me. I can't tolerate their sound at all.
I thinkt hey need to find lyrics more aptly suited to the frontman.

And kings of leon. They're not bad but I just don't like them.
Dave Matthews band annoys me as well. And I feel like such a hypocrite to say that because I've seen them live 3 times. And each time I hate them more and more. It's like I'ma glutton for punishment or something.

Jack Johnson bothers me. Only because I once drove in a car for about three hous with a friend and that's all she wanted to listen to.

=)) yeah I don't really like Matthews. I still find myself humming along to some of his songs though. Looks like my little hate thread got shut down o.0.

I'd have to say it was a fitting end, to around 3 hours of personal laughter though.

hell yeah.
That thread was funny.
I might have to get a box of apple jacks one day soon and sit down and read it in its entirety.

At any rate I like the song Grave Diggers by Dave Matthews. the last time i went to see the dave Matthews band i was hoping they'd play this song. but one thing lead to another and i started drinking and dancing and I don't even know if they played it or not.

Ace 08-05-2006 12:53 AM

Yeah, my radio station is giving away free tickets to the 9th caller. 3 times a day they have the contest, and it's for some sold out show in Atlanta. So far I haven't had any luck though. =|

I went to see muse earlier tnoight. My friend lucked up and came across three tickets.
I find that now that I'm older I enjoy concerts less and spend most of my time dancing with chicks or something.
You know you're wasting a time at a concert if you spend most of your time listening to your IPod.
I remember at one point I was looking up at the satge and R kelly's Bump and grind came on (my IPod) and i was dancing with this girl . . . so much fun.

Ace 08-05-2006 12:56 AM

Come to think of it, they were giving away Muse tickets too. I haven't tried landing some of those yet.

it's not worth the effort.
I like Incubus. I'm a big fan of theirs but I'm in no hurry to see them live again.
Once you've seen Brandon Boyd's bird chest you'll see what I mean.

And Our Lady peace to add to the list of bands I'll never like.

Ace 08-05-2006 12:59 AM

I've only heard "Somewhere Out There", by Our Lady Peace. It was good, but I haven't really heard enough of them to judge yet.

I just don't like Our Lady peace for some strange reason.

I usually learn to hate a band if they get to much hype for any one aprticular song or album and I'm overly exposed to it for long periods of time.
Or if they just suck in general

Ace 08-05-2006 01:03 AM

Indeed. Too much air play can do it too. I've listened to Stone Sour's new song....and not exaggerating....probably over 45 times now, willingly.
By the time I get the album, I'll probably skip the track every time =)).

Through the Glass?
I've heard that. It's pretty good. At first I didn't have much interest to hear Stonesour since it's a Corey taylor side project and i detest slipknot.
but this stuf is a lot better.

A band that I'm just starting to get into is red Jump Suit Apparatus. I've heard their song face Down maybe 50 times now and I know that when I get their album I'll neevr skip that song.

And the Strokes.
I hate the Strokes. tthey should die.
As well as Creed. Creed sucls. They make me think of lemons
And ICP.

Ace 08-05-2006 01:09 AM

I was a fan of Creed. Wish I could say the same for Scott Stapp's solo thing, but that's dissapointing. And yeah, Corey is much more talented when he's toned down, in Stone Sour. Most people forget that Stone Sour was his first band, and he just did more with Slipknot up untill now. Through the Glass, lyric wise, is probably my favorite song by them.

I like the vocals. they're very strong and precise (I think the word is).

I don't follow too much into Corey taylor's life so I enver knew his first band was Stonesour until you just told me.

Ace 08-05-2006 01:13 AM

Yeah, I didn't know for a while either, untill after I started listening to both bands. You should listen to Inhale, Bother, and Take A Number. I have links to all 3, if you want to hear.

Fixed** Left out a word or two.

I've heard all three of those songs before.
one of my best friends is the one that got me into Stonesour a few years ago when bother came out.
I think another reason I prefer Stonesour to Slipknot is because Slipknot wasn't known for their music so much as they were for wearing those hideous masks.

Ace 08-05-2006 01:19 AM

Yep. I liked Slipknot's last album pretty well too. It had a little of the feel from Stone Sour. Corey's just much more talented when he takes it down a notch.

Speaking of taking it down a notch, I've noticed that these past few RHCP albums, the band is losing their edge a little.
Hell a lot.

have you noticed that with some bands today?

Like Weezer. They're breaking up adn their last few albums weren't narly as great as their blue album.

Or Alient Ant farm. Although they're exceptional because they can give a kick ass performance any day of the week

Ace 08-05-2006 01:25 AM

Oh yeah. Now I loved RHCP's latest album, but I also have Weezer's. I guess Weezer's was ok.....to listen to once. Overall musicly, that album kinda sucked. Nothing like the old classics, Buddy Holly, or Hash Pipe. RHCP kind of evolves everytime they release something, so it's good to have a band putting out new things, rather than the same thing over and over. I loved Pearl Jam's latest too. It could very well be better than the Ten album.
