Deciding wheather I like an album or not is a difficult process imo. If I love the album during my first listen, it's probably just very catchy but it will wear off after a short time. The best albums are growers - those albums that get better and better for each listen and are impossible to tire from. Trouble is that these sort of albums don't seem significant or impressive during the first listen.

The first time I listen to an album, I don't listen through it all the way. I will listen though half a song maybe and then skip to the next - just for a general impression. If it sounds interesting, I will listen to the entire album front to back. How many times? Well, at least two. It all depends. Some albums I'm really patient with because I know or feel that it has the potential to be something I really love listening to.

This really varies. There are some albums I can tell I just won't like regardless of how many times I listen to it so they get 1 listen. Otherwise, 2 listens...maybe three. By then, even if it is a grower, I should be able to tell if I will like it.

I'm with Jans, I don't judge music based on what I spent.

I can't put a number to this. For example, I've listened to Siamese Dream countless times and I will continue to listen to it for the rest of my life most likely. Albums that go into my "all time classics" list...maybe on average 15-20 times.

eh

usually once around for my decision. Anything I get my hands on I usually like 3-4 tracks out of the whole sha-bang.

...before you think you've got your money's worth?

By this question, I need to download the album to listen first.

I like most of the albums I've bought, I still play records I bought in the early 70s.

an estimate of 3 times a day. so that would be (5x7) 35 times in a week.

not necessarily. sometimes old albums.
like Survivor by Destiny's Child or Christina Aguilera's Stripped or Mariah Carey's Song Collections. It depends actually.
I don't care about the album for as long as I like the songs and singers.

i pretty much know whether I like it or not on first listen - for those "difficult" albums, i shelve them and go back to it at a much later date to see if my tastes change

...before you think you've got your money's worth?

times played does not equal to pleasure from listening to it - i like to keep my listening as varied as possible, which means I don't repeat that much on an album when I first get it

...in general? (Meaning, how many times do you listen to any album in general)

in general, about 10 times, after 20 times, it starts getting over-played and i feel a bit fed-up of it

1) I will listen to it once to find out which tracks I like and which ones are standout then about a week later I will listen to it again to see if any tracks grew on me over time.

2) I don't go to buy an album unless I have downloaded it and like about 80% of the album. Sometimes I will randomly buy an album by an artist that I know but I haven't heard that specific album but I just do that as a gamble. to take a risk on something that may or may not be garbage.

3) I don't even know a good answer to that question. If I find an album I like I will probably listen to it a few times but once I have played it out then I put it aside no matter how much I like it
