Well, bad news guys. Youtube is blocked in Turkey so I'll have to put this on hold for a while. I hope it's back up before Eurovision actually happens.

*sigh*

Do you know how to proxy?

www.hidemyass.com

Then just use that as your browser and go to Youtube via that. Does it work for you?

yeah I heard about that. They were mad because of a youtube video talking about their corrupt government that wasn't being taken down.

Yeah I proxy all the time for porn but it's effing slow and I usually hang out on MB at work so it would take more time than it's worth. My boss is planning to hook up our office to VPN so maybe I'll be back sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the support

Aaand DJ, yeah the government was pissed about a leaked security vid. Problem is there's usually a legal process before blocking stuff but the government here also "adjusted" that legislation in February so that they could block stuff without any bureaucracy. Ha.

First they pull out of Eurovision completely and now they block YouTube? Dude Turkey is making this damn hard!!!

Luckily there are local elections today and lots of people are expecting a big change.

Well, I'm finally on a server that allows me to use YouTube, and just in time, too, because Eurovision is just 9 days away!

Today's post will feature the most WTF entries of Eurovision this year. In reality every Eurovision entry is a WTF entry but these are especially hard to digest. All brought to you by Austria, Moldova, Poland, and Lithuania.

Enjoy!

First we have Austria's Conchita Wurst, with "Rise Like a Phoenix."

Weird spy music + bearded lady + bathtub of rose petals is I dunno, very intense. Her voice is great and I love her attitude but this is really, really, weird to watch. The song is forgettable. Good luck? I will say I am curious about the live show.

Moldova presents Cristina Scarlat with "Wild Soul."

What am I? Am I human? (Uhhh....) Ok, frankly this song gets a WTF from me because her sing-screaming and the totally serious and not funny tone of this song kills the energy that Moldova usually brings to the show. I'm massively disappointed with this year's entry. Song is lame, key change is lame, all is LAME and leaves me totally...

I'm really not sure where Poland is going with "We are Slavic" by Donatan & Cleo.

Song is--- BOOOOOOBS. Performance should be excellent.

With lyrics like: We're Slavic girls/we know how to use our charming byuuuuuty/now shake what yo mamma gave ya/clap yo hands to this myuuuusik

You just KNOW the song is absolutely without a doubt a huge WTF. I cannot believe this song is representing a country. Who runs this sh*t in Poland?

Last, and totally least is Lithuania's trainwreck "Attention" by

I'm sorry but WHAT THE FAAAAACK IS THIS? Worst songwriting ever, and terrible production. Everything about this is hateable. She sounds like she's being strangled. I cannot even begin to imagine who wrote this line: "I'm gonna make you make you fall d-d-d-d-down on your knees."

JUST WTFFFFFFFFFf

Anyway I can't wait until May 10th! AND I sincerely hope that none of these songs are there at the final. Hahaha.

I completely forgot one of my favorite WTFs this year:

Georgia!

I really don't know what to say about this. I want to like its weirdness or enjoy it's yodeling bits but, I just can't. All I find myself saying after watching it is really, WTF. Revel in the strangeness of The Shin and Mariko's, "Three Minutes to Earth."

I think this is about that did the crazy jump last year. I think.

More coming up!

What's the criteria for this? Do they have to be unsigned or unknown? I'm sure one year we had an act who'd charted with a very well known band who I've forgot the name of, try to enter.

And how do they pick the song to enter for said country? All of these songs are usually a bit gimmicky to me, like you say Miss P they're all WTF entries. They're all a bit samey if that makes sense.

Can we get the Arctic Monkeys to enter for us? Or Dizzee Rascal?

Each country has their own criteria; some countries have a vote among candidates who submit to Eurovision themselves, others have a vote among candidates hand-selected by committees in each country; some countries have a panel of judges who select their representative after an American Idol-type forum, and some countries just have fascist systems where like one guy just picks the representative.

I don't know about the UK, but I'm pretty sure you have to apply.

Actually good bands would never risk their reputation at Eurovision -- going to the contest or even winning it is a stigma of complete trashiness for most, if not all the winners (with the exception of maybe Celine Dion and ABBA).

I'll be posting a review of last night's semi-final soon

Well I definitely got too busy for reviews of the semi-final this week but I just want to post today to remind ya'll that the Eurovision final is TONIGHT at 8pm British time (or 10pm Turkey time). Hope you get a chance to watch it so we can poke fun at the contestants and winner tomorrow!!

Also I'm like 99% sure I'll actually just GO to Eurovision next year so I really hope a good, nearby, easy-to-access country wins! Haha.

Default Eurovision 2014, Who you do you think should have won ?

Hey Guys.

I was a bit bummed at Austria winning Eurovision, I was really hoping the Netherlands would get it. Anyway I am just wondering who you think should have won it. Do you think the voters made the right choice or would you have voted differently. Anyway let me know.
