Default Music 'Facts' That People You Know Insist Are True

And won't be told otherwise........

My Mother - Insists it was Suzi Quatro who originally sung 'I Love Rock n Roll' in the early 80s and not Joan Jett. When I showed her the youtube video she replied that she still remembered Suzi did it a couple of years earlier.

My Dad - Insists that Billy Gibbons & Dusty Hill of ZZ Top are twin brothers, despite having different surnames.

Friend of mine - Insists that at an Ozzy gig a fan got up on stage and took a huge dump, Ozzy got on his knees and ate it. (Think he's confusing him with GG Allin but he still won't have it.

Guy I used to work with - Phil Collins sang guest lead vocals on Van Halen's 'I'll Wait'

Friend's Dad - Alice Cooper's Schools Out was released in the mid 60s.

Everybody I ever downloaded from on Soulseek - James Brown sings 'Play That Funky Music White Boy'

Eddy Van Halen and my father are firm believers that EVH was the first to use two hand fingertapping on the guitar.

That's funny. I just saw a TV show where Steve Hackett claimed credit for creating the two handed tap. I'm sure he stole it from some old Blues guy.

When I first heard the song This Means War by Avenged Sevenfold, I thought it was Metallica.

He's definitely the first one that I heard doing it.

Emmett Chapman is widely regarded as the first, but the technique dates as far back as the 1700s with Paganini doing Bach pieces.

I don't think Yngwie could go for ten minutes without talking about himself, so you're suspicions are off base.

But that's exactly what Yngwie would say, wouldn't it?

Does that mean I'm some kind of Bizarro World Yngwie who can't play guitar?

My grandfather, who isn't known for joking, insists that while researching our family tree he discovered that we are related to Cher in some way.
