Album title: Voids
Artist: Minus the Bear
Genre: Indie Rock/Alt-Rock/Math Rock
Nationality: American
Release date: March 3
Position in Discography: Eighth
Fear Factor: Moderate

Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little
Average RYM Score: 3.00
Lordy! More indie and/or alt-rock! Someone give me some K-Pop! Nah, just joking not really. Is it just me, or are all these bands sounding the same? Is indie rock really this boring? Surely there's better than this? And many other questions. Yeah, again, I don't think this is a particularly bad album, but it just doesn't interest me. At all. The only thing about this that makes any sort of impression on me is about the last minute of the last track. That can't be a good sign.

Check out more from this artist? I feel no desire to, no.
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes

What’s the difference between fear factor and expectation index?

Fear Factor is my expectation of how I'll react to the album, good bad or meh, whereas Expectation Index shows how right, or wrong I was, after the fact. The lower the EI, the more on the money I was. So if for instance I think I'll hate an album (let's say it's a freeform jazz punk or maybe an industrial screech noise avant-garde grindcore metal one) and it turns out I don't, the Expectation Index would be high, and red (8-10). If I did hate it, then it'll be a green 0. If I hated it less than expected, maybe 2-4 and so on.

Tealdear: FF is how I think I'll react to the album based on my own tastes and experiences, EI is how I actually did react to it after having heard it. One is an estimate, the other a result.

Well, it started off so promising, but since then it's been a mediocre, meh March. Let's hope this will turn the tide. Normally I'd be hitting HIGH or even CRITICAL on any album with punk in the genre tag, but on the basis of how much I enjoyed the Dropkick Murphys, I'm hoping this may continue that trend. We'll see. Can't be worse than what I've listened to in the last few days, anyway.

Album title: Two Devils Will Talk
Artist: The Real McKenzies
Genre: Celtic Punk
Nationality: Canadian
Release date: March 3
Position in Discography: Ninth
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 3.23
Apparently, these guys are one of the founders of Celtic Punk, so I guess I'll get to hear whether the Dropkicks are a proper example of the genre or not. Well it's kind of what I have now come to expect after listening to 11 Stories of Pain and Glory. Good time, mad, drinking-type songs with a strong Celtic (in this case, Scottish) traditional influence. I'm not sure, but I think those are bagpipes on “Seafarers”, then these guys can really do the acapella singing, as in the next song, “Northwest Passage”. I have a lot of time too for bands who don't take themselves too seriously, and how can you be accused of that when you include a song on your album called “Fuck The Real McKenzies”? Great stuff, and as I said about their contemporaries, they must be a blast live. They've certainly put a stick of dynamite up this month's ass!

Check out more from this artist? Yup
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yeah

Album title: English Tapas
Artist: Sleaford Mods
Genre: Post punk
Nationality: English
Release date: March 3
Position in Discography: Eleventh
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 3.08
Ah, punk again! I do worry though, with a name like Sleaford Mods: I used to hate Mod music (The Jam, The Specials, Selecter, The Beat etc) and when this kicks off it does sound almost more ska (as I understand it) than anything else. The cockney London accent is a little off-putting, and it's kind of angry, though more in a “Wot the **** you lookin at pal” way than anything else: sort of arrogant/aggressive. Don't think I'm going to enjoy this but we'll see.

No, I didn't. This is ****. I see they have a previous album entitled Wank. Very apt. The music is awful, it's really bass-driven and sounds really sparse to me, and the guy won't stop going on about this and that, as if I care. I don't. Bye.

Check out more from this artist? Absolutely not
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Don't know

If he's having fun, sure. I just hope he doesn't crap out before he gets to all of my favourites from 2017.

I'm not going to crap out at all. I'm going to finish this; projected end date around September 2018.
