No. Ask anyone who isn't into it, knows nothing about it. It's very definitely the popular, mainstream, basic image it projects. You just don't want to see it, and that's fine. But I'm not wrong.

Oh Carstairs! WHERE are my spats? I asked for them to be cleaned an HOUR AGO! DO you want to be dismissed without references? Well, do you? Jump to it man! The opera starts in two hours and I have yet to find a proper cravat to wear!

I never claimed I did. In the last year or two I've listened to more than I have in the preceding forty-odd, but I'm still not in a rush to experience more.

Thank you. At least someone recognises this is the truth.

You're not so much actively racist as just cringe-inducingly problematic but you absolutely refuse to see it and that makes it worse.
And you're still not black. Sorry man.

If they know nothing about it, they won't be able to tell you anything about it

You’re very wrong. Some of the most forward-thinking people I know are not fans of hip-hop music, but they would never ever describe the genre as a whole in the way you did in the opening post

You don't have to know about something to tell people about it. You can see it on TV, yeah? It's the perception that colours the view of many people. Goebbels would tell you: it's all about how you send the message.

And tons of people I know, who are also intelligent people, would say the opposite to you and agree with me. Everyone doesn't think the same. Anyway, I care not: agree to disagree. It's all supposed to be in fun, as I said in the original thread. Don't lose your rag over it. Not worth it.

Yes, you have to know about something to tell people about it TH. If you do know something about it, then you can't know nothing about it, even if that something is a vague idea from pop culture.

Jeez. Obviously I meant have any more than a surface knowledge of it. Want to split some more hairs? You know what I meant. Shall we say, a TH level knowledge of hip-hop? Does that sound better?

Maybe you should actually listen to other people. We're trying to tell you something.

Hey Bat, I'm not sure you're the right messenger. I mean how many times have you used the N word here and, of course, there was the infamous Hitler avatar. In other words, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I do agree his OP was a bit cringe worthy though.

I've had many Hitler avatars, the difference is that I'm self-aware and TH isn't and that's a big difference.
