My Bloody Valentine

Does anyone else feel that My Bloody Valentine dont get enough credit?... Loveless is a beautiful album in my opinion, it just has a great sound and feel to it, i wish they would get back together to make another album, any thoughts?

IndiElectronica 11-18-2005 03:42 AM

Love em - tho a biggger fan of Jesus & Mary Chain and Ride. Loveless I feel gets too much attention, but it's certainly a great album!

Sneer 11-18-2005 03:46 AM

personally i think their quite overrated.

adidasss 11-18-2005 03:53 AM

why do they sound like they're emo? ( i mean the name )

Dunno, but they are not emo by any means...They have a very avant garde sound, not for everybody.

Too f*cking right! Kevin Shields is a good songwriter, but all that f*cking guitar noise pisses me off.

Its part of their sound...I personaly like Kevin Shields approach to guitar, its pretty unique, no one has ever really used the guitar like its a drone instrument before...I personaly love the tone as well.

puddin 11-18-2005 04:39 AM

Hmm, I guess, but whenever I listen to Loveless I just feel like the music is all etherial and doesnt have any foundation and it's annoying.

Slint are WAY better at using droning guitars.

one_more_atrocity 11-18-2005 04:41 AM

like them, they should get more press than they do cus not many people have heard of them.

IYO :)

But i think My Bloody Valentine were a very important and influencial band in those respects, the whole shoegazer movement really took off because of them. And i think Loveless is very melodic, those who say it isnt hasnt heard it more than once. The guitar is their musical canvas for which they paint over it with melody, rather than the typical rock band which uses bass and drums instead, its a very ambient style...The music is loud and noisy, but it isnt heavy or hard, its very mellow and soft in spirit, thats why i like it.

puddin 11-18-2005 04:48 AM

I guess so. I think I just got really annoyed by the riff on Only Shallow after my friend played it for the billionth time once and I just sorta wrote them off for good after that.

I guess they're just not my style, eh?

Aparrently not, too bad. :(

puddin 11-18-2005 04:51 AM

I actually really liked the songs that Kevin Sheilds wrote for Lost in Translation.

Me too. :)

They're pretty good, I just got Isn't Anything, and I'll probably get Loveless after I get Psychocandy, Spiderland, Confusion is Sex, and Junkyard (Birthday Party.)

Expletive Deleted 12-03-2005 12:23 PM

Loveless is easily one of the best albums of the 90s.

I'd like them to get back together so I could watch them live, but another album would probably be a mistake.

jayblaq 12-07-2005 03:19 PM

I love them! I wish their were more albums to listen to!

We have a band that loves them too! I would love to get your view of. Most people don't geet them because they love MBV and the old sound that most can't understand. Thanks for posting this thread so I can get the opinon of fans of MBV on this band.

The band is called Blue Diner and they are from Boston. You can hear their tunes online on fiberlineaudio - check them out in the rock section. Otherwise here is a link to listen and let me know if they are following in the footsteps of their mentors....

All the best,
Jay Blaq

Yanqui_UXO 12-09-2005 05:08 PM

always felt loveless is overrated. some good songs though.

Imonlydancing 12-11-2005 12:53 PM

I only have one of their songs, it's called ''only shallow'' - I like it.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-20-2006 01:16 PM

I quite like Isn`t Everything

Loveless is like a hangover set to music

It's been too long. They've all moved on, got into different things, probably would want to take the band in completely opposite directions, and then in an attempt to placate everyone they'd try to incorporate too much and the album would be a mess. It's the reason I'm really dreading The Pixies putting a new album out, because it would have to be the musical equivalent of Rooney scoring an overhead kick in the last minute of the world cup final against Germany, or it'd feel like an anti-climax.

half_baked87 01-20-2006 06:41 PM

wow, so far i'm the only one that hates them.

Sabgoat 01-20-2006 07:03 PM

i've never actually heard any of there stuff before.. heard nothing but good things tho.. i've been trying to find there stuff for a while but can't seem to find there album in the stores, or on downloading sites.. oh well i'll just continue looking.. got to pop up some where..

IndiElectronica 01-21-2006 04:11 AM

where you live? you can get both their albums for 5 quid at Fopp in the UK.... any used record store will have them too...

[bruise.pristine] 01-21-2006 09:30 AM

a island not very well known anywhere.. not even its own conutry hehe...newfoundland

Sneer 01-21-2006 03:23 PM

loveless is genuinely incredible. the guitar overdubs create the most warped, dream-like sounds ive ever heard. the only quip i have is the extent to which studio wizardry is used, but then that is the beauty of this album. pissed me off how unproductive they were after this though.

MURDER JUNKIE 04-19-2006 02:03 AM

IndiElectronica 04-24-2006 04:30 AM

boo boo 05-13-2006 04:38 AM

Bump? :(

Give em a chance folks.

Piss Me Off 05-14-2006 12:36 PM

Really like them at the moment, but if you listen to 'Feed Me With Your Kiss' too loud it'll probably kill you..

Kadakron 05-14-2006 08:29 PM

Love 'em.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-14-2006 08:37 PM

Kevin Sheilds will be releasing Riot City Blues along with the rest of the members of Primal Scream on June 4th from all good record stores & some bad ones too.
