it's probably a bit early to tell. i've only heard it twice, and i had a dramatically different opinion the second time around. but for now it's still microcastle.

fair enough. i'd actually say I like them both just as much, Helicopter and Desire Lines are both ridiculously awesome in my opinion. And He Would Have Laughed is a killer closer (same with Earthquake...cept killa' opener)

fantastic album. i think the only real weak link on it is Don't Cry.

"Weird Era" is still my favorite, but I like the new one a whole lot, maybe just a tad less than Microcastle.

I still want them to make another album more along the lines of Fluorescent Grey or Cryptograms though.

After Microcastle, I had thought Deerhunter had reached the apex of their musical output. Then Halcyon Digest came out and blew that preconceived notion out of the water. Songs like Earthquake and Helicopter just go to show how talented these guys are as songwriters.
