A new person has seen the light...

Sneer 04-17-2005 10:14 AM

still not the best band of the 00s though :)

adidasss 04-17-2005 04:27 PM

bloc party is a great band...but also the bravery, the killers, the arcade fire, hot hot heat and kings of leon ( even though they don't really fall into this category) its amaizing how all of these bands put out albums that have 10 or 12 great songs and not 2 or 3 exelent songs and then just filler upper crap...they're all so talented it's sickning and depresses me

BRMC. Now that is something to consider. I will have to say that i prefer Kings of Leon though. Block Party are pretty good. Russel, however is far too skinny to be a healthy young man.
Random fact: Russel and Kele both made GQ's best dressed list

Damn you people who put K on the end!

AprilMay 04-24-2005 02:00 PM

I apologise for my typing error. i do realise that it is spelt without a k i am just a very poor typist.

coffeeshop 04-24-2005 02:01 PM

Lol I was just being funny. :)

Trauma 04-24-2005 02:40 PM

I didn't reply to this because I hadn't heard any of their stuff but now I've heard a couple songs. I listened to "Helicopter" as well and if that's one of their best songs then I don't think this duo is going very far.
They're O.K., nothing special though.

duo?

Trauma 04-24-2005 03:05 PM

Oh I thought they were a duo, but they're a quartet.

shandapanda 04-29-2005 02:37 AM

banquet's okay, but they're not all that special......

You got the album? Once you listen to that for a few times it makes you like them more.

adidasss 04-29-2005 05:50 AM

i think the drum action is fantastic...and the slower songs lovely..i do however think that 13 songs is too much...they should have quit after 11

not always

coffeeshop 05-01-2005 04:07 AM

Well I think the more tracks on the album the better value for money, as long as they are still good material.

A_Tribe_Called_Quest 05-01-2005 07:40 AM

i think the bloc party album silent alarm is great, luno the pioneers, banquet, this modern love are all great songs, but i heard they arent that good live, and seeing as its there debut album u cant really say best new indie band since the 90's. wait until their next album and then i think ill decide if they are truly great.

well the last three songs are not that great, compared to the first 10..thats what i meant by saying they should've stopped while they were ahead..

coffeeshop 05-02-2005 05:16 AM

Well people have different opinions because I like the last three tracks a lot. 'Luno', 'Plans' and 'Compliments' are some of the best on the album.

Sneer 05-02-2005 06:18 AM

compliments is a disgrace of a song.

alleyezonme12 05-02-2005 12:45 PM

I love strokes, they are one of my favorite bands of all time....

they may be tad tawdry, but it occured to me the other day how influencial they have been for this decade. the release of their debut started a whole new movement in music, a return to the garage rock, guitar led pop that dominates the rock charts today. disagree if you will, but thats the way i see it. how many "the..." bands do you see today playing fast, bouncy pop-rock with the "dirty, rough" image.

I absolutely agree, that's why I decided to download their albums the other day but half way through it I decided not to, because I have already moved on to the faster, more evolved sound of the new wave ( the bravery, the killers, bloc party etc. )...I should've done it earlier...now they just seem to mellow and slow...
