From region to region it really is kind of a cultural shock. Different dialects, political beliefs, religious beliefs, economies, education systems, food and other factors.

Yeah, it may not be as radical as going from the U.S. to another country, but it is different from region to region. Some people seem to think we Americans are all arrogant, fat, stupid, nosy racists (basically every stereotype in the book that foreign countries label us as being), and while there are plenty of those that we aren't so proud of, not all of us are one of them

Yes but this can happen for every country can't it to be fair? The English stereotype is hardly indicative of who we are at all. Being on forums such as this the only major difference I generally see is the differences in humour and of course calling Football:soccer

I think it's the media that put's up images of cultures and nationalities but in the end we all have the same dreams, aspirations and struggles it seems.

Absolutely it happens everywhere, I was just responding to this conversation specifically which was regarding the United States. Plus the U.S. is the only country I can speak for being as it is the only country I've lived in.

By the way, it's called soccer! Just look at the smilie:

if by this you mean more subtle humor, then shit yeah. There are things in movies that I find hilarious that no one else i kow think are funny what-so-ever. eg, rock-n-rolla when the main character is being chased down the road...well pretty much all of guy ritchie, the real version of The Office as opposed to our retarded version. Im not sure if this is what you meant at all, just something Ive noticed and love. please correct me with harsh words if I am completely off track

No you are too late to the Football V Soccer argument lol it was coined in the 1800's long before Soccer was mentioned!

Actually, I don't think very many countries had institutionalized slavery for several centuries followed by another century of state sanctioned segregation based on racism...

Worst argument ever. If I ever have any sort of high authoritic power, I will change our football name to awesomeball to dismiss any future confusion.

/facepalm.

Most of the european countries have far more savage histories to them. Don't think you're high and mighty because you were too poor to do anything nasty.

No I won't correct you at all and I am not saying one humour is better than the other but certain things are lost in translation on both sides. It's not a complaint just an observation. I know that things like 'mother' jokes are used in the U.S whereas ours are 'Mother In Law' jokes! Our humour can be subtle but also sarcastic which can seem to be nasty to some maybe.
