As I said, the various neuron and ion exchanges that happen under the influence of, for instance,
a psychotropic drug are physical processes. You (your "self") end up mentally experiencing the results
of those interactions. Describing the physical act of shoving a large kitchen knife into someone's stomach
and stating that the result would more than likely be a scream is not solely describing a mental process.

it sounds like you are basically just against the idea of having a chemical alter your mind from what i can tell... Which doesn't mean you actually know much if anything about how that experience would actually change your perspective. An inherent trade off for abstaining from something completely is you will by definition have a rather limited perspective on it. Reading a scientific description of the processes involved is of limited value and will never quite bridge that experiential gap imo.

You know the only real problem with drinking I'm willing to acknowledge is that when you have to wake up early for work but you want to unwind with a couple beers by the end of those beers you're gonna want another beer and by the end of that beer you're like "**** you, clock, you don't know my life!"
