Just last week my mom went to Poland to clean up the apartment before the sale, and she sent me some packages with my books, clothes, etc. And now I'm re-reading one of the ones I got back – "Philosophical Investigations" by Ludwig Wittgenstein. I don't know why really, but weirdly enough it brings me peace of mind.

3. Have you ticked off anything on your bucket list? If so, what?

I'm finally having guitar and trumpet private lessons.

Actually I'll have my first trumpet lesson this Tuesday.

Only yoga and archery are still pending.

4. Do you have any weird personality traits or quirks?

It depends on what people consider to be weird, but I suppose I have to have some considering most people I get to know in real life either dislike me or are scared of me. Mostly because apparently I make people feel intellectually inferior.

Like this time when I was freshly in a couple with girl, and her best friend refused to meet with her when I was around, because apparently he saw me once at some party and I made an impression on him of some hyper-intellectual and he didn't want to look like an idiot when he would have to talk to me.

Or in high school there was a girl who hated my guts and I thought it's just spite as she wanted to be friends with my best friend. Only years later I was told it's because I made her feel stupid "just by existing". Which is weird, considering we never even really talked to each other.

Or there was this other girl whom I've never seen in my life before, and she was talking to two friends of mine and when I walked up, she froze and basically told me I'm a piece of **** and she doesn't want to have anything to do with me. And I was like "what? it's the first time we see each other".
Her demeanor changed over time though, because our social circles overlapped, so we had to spend time together from time to time.
She actually apologized for her behaviour later on and said that she only heard of me through some mutual acquaintances who told her I was the most snobbish and stuck-up person they know, and though I might be, she actually enjoys it and it's good she buried her hatchet.

In general I get annoyed by even slight misinformation, faulty reasoning, logical errors and I often tell people what I think pretty bluntly, like if someone makes factual errors or says something stupid/incorrect or analyze a situation or concept poorly I jump in right away and correct them on everything that as wrong with what they said in the past 30min.

[It sometimes leads to me acting completely out of character (introverted, quiet, diplomatic) like when I was in a bar with some friends and people sitting in the table next to us were discussing the war in Ukraine and political gains/loses that will follow, and I just couldn't listen to that **** no more, so I got up, made a speech correcting them, which eventually led to me, those guys and the two bartenders screaming at each other. I actually got kind of scared as they looked like some hooligans, so thank god they didn't want to get physical.]

Which I suppose might be off-putting for many people.

Wouldn't they want to be correct?

5. What’s your favourite way to listen to music and why? Eg. Commuting

Alone, in winter, high as a kite, and sitting wrapped up in blankets on my balcony

Sadly I don't have a balcony in my new apartment.

6. Would you go to the moon given the chance? Why or why not?

If there was an easier and less dangerous way of traveling there than how it is nowadays, and if I could come back when I've had enough, then sure, why not. It would be an experience like no other.

But if I was to become an astronaut, fly a rocket that could just as well blow up before reaching the stratosphere, and then if I made it to the moon I'd have to stay there and colonize, then no thanks.

Anyway, I don't see the point of going there apart from the nice views.

You'd actually be surprised how many people hate to be corrected. Some think they're right anyway, despite the obvious evidence, some know they're wrong but don't want you to point it out. Case in point: ex-friend of mine was working in my office and was convinced - I mean, literally sure - that a cake was a coffee slice, despite the very obvious problem that there was no coffee flavour from it, and the icing was white. I argued back and forth with her but she would not hear of it. Eventually - because, like you, I really can't stand it when someone sticks to a false belief that can be easily disproven - we went down to the canteen where the lady sells the cakes and I asked her what it was. "Vanilla slice", she told me. "Not a coffee slice?" I confirmed, as she looked at me funny. "No. Vanilla slice." Fran was all kind of, "Oh." But had I not got an outside party to back me up, she never would have believed me, or wanted to. There are a lot of people like that. It's like, just don't correct me. I don't care if I'm wrong. Don't correct me.

Karen used to always call the background of her mobile phone a screensaver, and I tried to explain to her it wasn't: a screensaver moves, this doesn't. I wanted her to know, because otherwise when she used it in company people might laugh at her ignorance/stupidity. But again all I got was "don't correct me." Never understand that. As you say, if you're wrong you're wrong, and wouldn't you want to know that, so you can correct yourself in the future? I sure would. But not everyone does. Form of insecurity I suppose.

There's no question that someone constantly correcting you and pointing out where you're wrong can be a real pain in the ass. I should point out that I am not like this: I don't like people to have incorrect concepts but if it's not important, or doesn't annoy me then I'll just let it go. Someone saying "there were two fire brigades at the fire" bugs me (it's THE Fire Brigade, and they use fire trucks, tenders or whatever, but it's something peculiar to Irish people) but I'll let it go. Someone saying something really stupid, like I don't know, Mars is the one with the rings around it, would impel me to correct them. I however will shrug and drop the subject if it's clear someone is getting annoyed and I would never correct someone I don't know, even if it's obvious. If I were to hear someone on a bus say, for instance, that Joe Biden is 90, I won't go up and say no he isn't. It's none of my business.

But I would caution Mucha: people do not like a know-it-all, but they like less a know-it-all who lets everyone know he knows (or thinks he knows) it all. It's a real quick way of turning people against you. Arrogance, condescension and a superior attitude are real turn offs for just about everyone.

Mucha, that's not a quirk but something pretty common among bright guys your age: it's called being a pedant. You'll grow out of it (nothing like a 50 year old professor who you know is much smarter than you rolling their eyes at you a couple of times - and where you are now there are plenty of those, who'd be happy to oblige!) and then you'll realize that it's not what defines your personality. What does? A lifetime of self-discovery awaits!

At this stage, the first African team would be a historic belter. But in second place I always admired the Argies (the hand of god and all that).

I don’t read nearly enough as I should. My material is a mix of mainstream political commentary, then delving down into an occasional essay read by some university-prof-gone-awol, whenever someone points me in that direction.

3. Have you ticked off anything on your bucket list? If so, what?
Never had one. Ran a few gentle marathons, and a mate of mine wants me to do a triathlon with him next year. Trying to make him forget me due to my smoking and drinking habits, but he’s persistent.

Well I think I’ve been showing those in my previous posts. If not then I clearly haven’t been doing my job.
And an overly-normal enthusiasm to look for strange tunes by random posters.

Don’t commute at the mo. Earphones, as loud as possible.

Wouldn’t survive the G's. But would go if offered the chance.
