Also, if it was the same case facts, the same prosecution, same everything, and they found him guilty... I wouldn't be angry for any racial reason. I'd be angry that the jury chose to ignore evidence and law and make this about emotion. Whether that law is reasonable or not is another matter entirely, but it is still law and Zimmerman didn't break it, according to a jury of his peers.
No, I don't think the jury was filled with white racists. I have nothing concrete to base my assumptions on. It is just a feeling I have. I just feel like the same people going on about this not being a case about race would feel differently if Trayvon was white or if he was found guilty. Also you just stated the reason why people would be angry if he was found guilty and there would still be this big of an issue. You wouldn't be the only one angry about the jury chosing to ignore evidence and the law in place of their emotions. There would be people chanting Justice for Zimmerman if he was being sent away and people trying to get the case declared a mistrial.

Also as I have said numerous times before but in different threads. I have no problem with the verdict. My issue is with the specific law that he was able to hide behind. Also the same law that seems to produce different results for different people specifically Marissa Alexander.

The SYG law isn't immutable in its application, and hinges on specific factors. There would definitely be different results, given the particular details of a situation.

Here is a link that might help clear up why the judge did not think the law applied to Alexander's case, whether we agree with it or not.

Marissa Alexander: The REAL reason she's behind bars | HLNtv.com

After reading that, think about the details of the Zimmerman case, and you can see why there may be a different outcome. It hinges on the actions taken by the individual claiming the SYG law, as the law isn't simply, "if you feel threatened, you don't have to run away, you can just kill".

Ty for that when I first heard about the case. I felt like there was some differences and that was the main reason she went to jail but I didn't do the research and with all the racial mongering in the media I ended up getting swayed to the side of the SYG law is just fucked up and doesn't work because it has different outcomes for different people.
Yes, I went from looking at it logically to being swayed by the media. Sue me. shit happens.

I hate my periods. Seriously, I do. The whole thing with the mood-swings, wearing a pad, my horny-hormones going crazy and my belly bloated. Ugh! It's the worst feelings ever.

Honey, I would have your periods over Endometriosis any day as living with chronic pain is not fun.

Aww you're so sweet.

I do generally wish we as woman could just turn our periods on when we want to have children, not every month until we turn about 45-50. And then there is menopause!

To be fair and honest with ya, I wish to help the world be a better place.

I strongly agree with every word of knowledge that you wonderfully typed. You are such a precious person, my darling Vanilla.

I don't want it to seem like I was attacking or anything. I just think it's important to look at things equitably if we really want equality. I don't blame people for emotional responses. Everyone has them. It's natural. I just think we owe it to society as a whole to put a little effort seeing both sides of things, because there is no way we'll ever get to a good place, socially, if we're only latching on to whatever engages and supports our biases and looking no further.
The really unfortunate thing is politically driven media plays on human tendency, on both sides, and it has a pretty obvious effect. I definitely don't know everything about everything, nor do I wish to, but I do know that if my only source of information is always agreeing with my perspective, it's time to start questioning one or the other.
