Being called a moron brings back really bad memories which I want to forget. So, I take a lot of offense, especially since I was an award-winning student throughout pretty much the entirety of my school years. Spelling Bee, art projects, not to mention I was one of the best geometry students in my freshman year (at that school, geometry was a 10th grade class, and I was the one commonly asked for for group projects). Oh, not to mention, I have been congratulated by someone who oversee the creation of specialized school tests for the advanced. I don't know what company, but Mom and my teachers were very impressed. Apparently, on that test (and only advance students got to take it), I got one of, if not the highest scores.

I'm not trying to brag or anything, but I've been through a lot during my school years, a lot of rewarding situations due to my schoolwork and grades, and that's why I hate being called a moron. It's not only a grim reminder, it's people trying to judge me when they know nothing about me.

I meant the offense level is the same.
It does mean bundle of sticks. Back when people really, really hated gays, they would hang and burn them with cheaply purchased bundles. Calling them f*ggots literally means they aren't even worth the wood they're burned with.

Moron doesn't seem too bad now does it?

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I was guessing bundle of sticks because... two sticks together...

Also, I can't find a definite source for that claim. That's really an urban legend.

Ah. No.

Most words like this have harsh historical meanings rather than just being clever. That's why using them is so taboo. If people called black people negro and the whole slavery thing never happened it'd probably be fine and dandy.

Were you ever lynched by someone who called you a moron? No? Then you don't really have the same collective history to affect your view of a word.

I can get offended by something for my own reasons. Technically, all those people who are still offended are still alive. Don't tell me I can;t be offended by something. What I was saying was a metaphor. What I mean is I do not take kindly to being called a moron.

EDIT: That is literally the first time I've seen that song referenced. I've never heard it on the radio, either.

That's one of the thousands of reasons I haven't ever owned a radio as an adult, radio is crap.

Seems like it shouldn't be all that hard to hear on the radio, tho...

You can get offended by it, but it's not the same thing as calling a black person a nigger.

That was just a metaphor. And to be honest, if I were black, I wouldn't be as offended because no white guy of the modern day has ever tried to kill me. It's really not that serious of a statement that I made.
