Well daddy is back and he brought you a pony, no a unicorn!

Why are they idiots? What the ****, that's a really crappy generalisation to make. Some people strongly believe in animal rights, and rightly so. Some people just don't like the idea of eating flesh. Some people feel they are more healthy as a vegetarian. That doesn't make them idiots.

They are idiots because they feel that an animal's life is worth something, when animals can't feel love or have hopes and dreams. Their only purpose is to reproduce and feed other animals. Why the hell does it matter if they go through pain before they die an early death or not?

EDIT: And about the health factor, that's what I said. Nothing's wrong with being a vegetarian for dietary reasons.

How do you know an animal doesn't have feelings? Christ have you ever even had a dog? They can clearly feel love and sadness and anger.

I can understand eating meat because it's the natural order, but keeping a chicken locked in a cage too small for it's entire life, where it will never see daylight, and pumping it with hormones until it's in so much pain, and then killing it is totally inhumane. Even if eating animals is what humans are 'supposed' to do, this is not. And sleepy jack is right, you don't know what animals can and can't feel. I've had many pets and I would never want to torture, kill, or eat any of them because they are all loving and loyal creatures with their own personalities and feelings. When I yell at my dog he gets all ashamed and hides. That just shows he has emotions.

I don't think it's stupid for people to be vegetarians for reasons other than being healthy. It's perfectly understandable and reasonable for someone to feel strongly about animal rights and think cruelty is wrong. I think animal cruelty is wrong, but I enjoy meat. Watching some videos made me reconsider eating meat, though..Again, lol.

I've had 5 dogs. All they ever wanted was treats and rubs on the belly. I don't doubt for a second that if I died and there was no one to feed it, a dog would have no qualms about eating MY corpse. Dogs are just fun to have around, they don't love you or anything.

EDIT: SR, he doesn't hide because he's ashamed, he's afraid. Fear is the only emotion animals can feel.

Yeah both shiseido_red and I have had dogs and beg to differ and you're the one who clearly has an agenda here. So why don't you shut the fuck up before you make stupid generalizations and comments. Scientists have examined Animal's brains and they do react in certain ways to certain situations just like humans do and they can feel anxiety and they can feel affection; saying they can't is like saying gravity isn't real.

khfreek 11-29-2008 12:39 AM

I don't have an agenda :\

Any signs of "affection" I've gotten from dogs have all been obvious ploys to get food. They lick my hand because they like the taste and they know I like it, they let me rub them because they like it and they know I like it, and don't **** inside because they know I like it.

Though I can see how it's easy to misinterpret these things as affection, since usually affection IS doing stuff that other people like. The difference is dogs (lolredundancy) HAVE AN AGENDA.

guitargirl_93 11-29-2008 12:40 AM

I think that we are all biased here. Sleepy_jack, I take that you are a vegetarian. That makes you biased. Khfreek, I take that you are not. ;) That makes you biased. I'm all for open opinions and discussion, but let's not make any accusations about opposing views, as it only causes trouble.
