Any signs of "affection" I've gotten from my dogs have all been obvious ploys to get food. The lick my hand because they like the taste and they know I like it, they let me rub them because they like it and they know I like it, and don't **** inside because they know I like it.

So far they understand fear and being rewarded, clearly emotionless. Care to contradict yourself some more?

Well it's not fair for animals to live an entire life of fear and have nothing more to it than that - fear and cruelty. They deserve a natural life.

But anyway I'm pretty sure my dog feels more than fear. He wags his tail and licks me when I come home, he gets excited when I tell him we are going for a walk, and he bites my brother because he doesn't like him... he's got much more of a range of emotions than just fear and nothing.

I think that we are all biased here. Sleepy_jack, I take that you are a vegetarian. That makes you biased. Khfreek, I take that you are not. ;) That makes you biased. I'm all for open opinions and discussion, but let's not make any accusations about opposing views, as it only causes trouble.

Well I'm not a vegetarian but I'm arguing against khfreak. So that makes me not biased.

Dogs beg for food, that's what they do. But they also feel, as you proved..they know fear. And since they know fear, wouldn't it be cruel to abuse them and eat them? As well as other animals?

See, I know that it is cruel and such and I feel bad..But I still eat meat. I'm a huge hypocrite in that sense. :D

Astronomer 11-29-2008 12:46 AM

I eat meat but very rarely and only free range and organic stuff.

Calling someone stupid for running around saying Animals don't feel a simple range of emotions may be dickish but it doesn't make what he's saying anymore correct.

I love the taste of meat.

Thats why im not a vegetarian.

I'm totally cool with vegetarians as long as they don't try to guilt me.

Most of the animals people eat are dumb and not very cute anyway..

The comatose and the mentally handicapped aren't very cute or smart either, want to eat them too?
