So for something to be a positive to the world, it must also positive to other species?

Is that what you are saying?

Medicine is not an example of bettering the world? Hahaha, I guess we have drastically different viewpoints then. Personally, I view saving and/or improving millions of lives as a positive thing for the world. I guess you... don't? I almost find that hard to believe.

Phones, computers, all things technology related, improve society. They make the world a better place. Unless you think it was better when everything was word-of-mouth and information was delivered using the pony express. All those inventions were created because of human intelligence.

To say that human intelligence has never done anything to better the world is crazy.
What you're doing here is making an argument that is not only extremely myopic but also completely circular. What I was trying to do in the past couple posts was to get you to step back for a second and consider what you are actually basing your opinions on. But it looks like you're going to remain stuck in circular reasoning for the time being.

Thats not necessarily what I meant but in a way, yes.

What I'm saying is that something that improves that the quality of life for a single species does not necessarily benefit the WORLD. It does not necessarily make the world a better place. A mobile phone, for example, makes our lives a little easier and arguably improves our quality of life but ultimately it does nothing to help the world.

If you don't agree then OK, but give me an example. Give me one thing that the invention of mobile phones has given us that actually helps to make the world a better place.

I'm saying that for something to be a positive to the world, it has to be a positive to the world. I think you're pretty hard pressed to make the argument that an invention that allows humans to travel faster or live longer is particularly beneficial to the world as a whole. Hell, it's not even necessarily beneficial to humanity as a whole.

AKA continue to have my opinion.

You lost me right around saying that medicine isn't a good example of how human intelligence has improved the world.

EVEN IF SOMETHING ONLY BENEFITS OUR SPECIES, THE WORLD IS BETTER FOR IT. The idea that something needs to benefit all species for it to be positive is absurd. And apparently that's essentially the thought that you two both have. So I guess by you guys reasoning, nothing has ever really made the world better. Right? If I am wrong in saying that, please tell me what HAS bettered the world. Or has the world never improved?

If our quality of life improves, how doesn't that make the world as a whole better? Oh man, we didn't improve the lives of ants! WHO CARES, seriously. Small things like cell phones just make daily life for people easier and more convenient, allowing for more time for other things to get done. Would you rather live in 1900 or now? I'd guesstimate 99% of people would rather live now with all of the inventions and luxurious that have been created due to HUMAN intelligence.

I'm sorry but you just don't see it.

You are talking about LIFE, not the WORLD. Apparantly you can't see the difference.

Has anything ever been beneficial to the world in your eyes?

That depends what you mean by the world. Do you mean the actual world or your own little one?
