Oh dear. I wouldn't want you to be sad! :(

If it would make you happier, I'd be willing to second anticipation's nomination. I'd do this just for YOU, Big3, because I'm so very, very, *very* kind.

I like your sig quote, by the way. I have no arguments with you over the wisdom of that quote! Everything else, though, well.... ;)

Well Urban said he wouldn't select anyone still here. And i've never accused any midwesterners of having the foresight to agree with me. I see nothings changed in this thread either.

lol, apparently I'm dorothy in a tweed jacket now.

If you Children of the Corn could see how glorious New England is, you'd never go home. Tell the floodlands I said hello.

I've never even visited. :( I'm from the east coast but Atlanta is still incredibly southern. And now I'm in Houston... the industrial parks are lovely this time of year.

Where do you live? Its pretty easy to get here. Unless you're on that godless west coast, in which case you'll need to explain smog to me.

Oh Texas. Texas is a place I have fond memories of. If only for your women. Well, apply to college up here.

Guess you had better luck with them than I'm having. Probably not going to college anyhow.

For one thing, I probably didn't. The miserable bitch ripped my heart right out. Still, she might have been one of the most attractive people I've ever met.

Secondly, thats no attitude to have. Whats the reason for pessimism? Funds, grades, or health?

someonecompletelyrandom 10-16-2010 11:09 PM

I think it's just that I'm completely content with being a tosser ;). I don't really have the money, and I don't see much point in trying to aquire it because I have no desire to go. I think as long as I can provide for myself I'll be perfectly content with whatever menial jobs come my way. At least for now.

I've seen New England's glories, tweedy Dorothy. For four years.

The best part of New England, I'd say, is the foliage in autumn. And the ocean. Harvard Yard isn't too bad, either, except the place is overrun with people from NYC. Those darn New Yorkers make it hard to hear a Bostan accent at all when in Harvard Yard! :( Very disappointing.

I can't say I miss the East Coast at all. I prefer being a country bumpkin, surrounded by the lifestyle of animal exploitation that I so despise. It is very inspirational! :)

Once you go, you may find out why college can be so good. It can stretch your mind in ways you didn't expect! But you probably shouldn't go until you really want to and know what you'd like to learn.

You don't really think of yourself as a tosser, do you, Conan?

Yep...the foliage *is* beautiful. I miss that about upper New England. And the towns are quaint and cosy.

But there isn't usually that *desolation* feeling of being in the country, like in Iowa. Alone. Far from people. Ha! Take that, New England!

:/

TheBig3 10-17-2010 11:54 AM

Have you been to northern maine?

During a pre-freshman weeklong trip before the start of college, we went camping in New Hampshire and Maine, giving us a chance to see more of New England than just Massachusetts. I don't remember how far north we got in Maine, but we were out in the woods and hills, hiking around. It was lovely, especially since I prefer deciduous forests to evergreen forests.

I think everyone makes the mistake of imagining Boston - Providence - Hartford as New England.

And to think Boston = Massachusetts is also wrong. Northern Maine has so few residents it doesn't even name its towns. Its just Township 403 and things like that.

Random personal qualities that leaves me preferring the Midwest (although to be fair, Baltimore and NYC are the extent of my East Coast journeys):

1) I like sports a lot, especially college football. Other than maybe the Deep South, nobody competes with the Midwest's love of college football.

2) I don't like Seafood. I like Midwestern food. Detroit and Chicago pizza > New York style.

3) I don't like their accents.

4) I've lived in the Midwest my whole life and it has a comforting feeling about it.

5) People from New England act like Big3.

Oh cry me a river. People do act like me here and we don't get all bent out of shape about it. Pardon our efficiency.

This is what happens when you stay away from MB too long, Urban. When the cat's away, the mice will play! :D

Weren't the pictures of Maine pretty, though? I must retract my nomination of Big3 as a tosser.

At least the west coast can differentiate between a hill and a mountain.

Oh and our ocean hasn't turned black. :thumb:

Did I mention how wonderful trees look?
