Watched everyones except conans last night cos I was asleep. I barely paid attention to the houses n just listen to how weird all your accents are. Mindblown.

s_k 01-31-2011 08:53 AM

Hey! Everyone likes my accent! :D.

FETCHER. 01-31-2011 09:05 AM

I'd love to make one, but I'll probably sound like I'm trying to kick your **** in :(.

I hope to make a video soon, when it's nice and quiet in my house. Possibly on Saturday night when I'll be alone. You guys will get to hear me talk! How exciting! Though I don't like the sound of my voice...

s_k 01-31-2011 12:49 PM

No one does like the sound of their own voice :)

What I hear when I speak sounds good to me. But of course everyone else hears something different.

s_k 01-31-2011 12:58 PM

Everyone else hears the same, you just hear it differently.
That's because you don't just hear with your ears, you hear with your bones too.
The vibrations of your own voice in your own head go through your bones to your ossicles.
When you keep your ears shut and listen to your own voice, you hear a dull, bassy version of your own voice. That's the bit that you hear, that others dont hear.

Actually, most of the midrange sounds are received by your outer ear (the part you see), the lower sounds are mainly done by your skull and the highest range is done in your actual ear. It's a pretty complex thing.

You can alter a lot of the midrange frequencies by moving your ears around with your hands. My ears are pretty wide, so I should be able to hear a bit better when it comes to voices :)

you will be fine.. I really hate my voice and how soft it comes out. I always get mistaken for a female when i'm on the phone making an appt. or with customer service.

It depends for me, sometimes I love my voice, so you never hear me shut the fuck up but other times I cringe seeing my stupid loud girlie screams and laughing....

I think you'd all want to knock me out if you hung out with me.

s_k 01-31-2011 07:53 PM

Nah. Don't think so.
Now make a video :)

FETCHER. 01-31-2011 08:52 PM

It's not that you'll not understand me, I'll feel like a loser speaking all posh and still sound like I want to beat the **** out of you all haha. I have no way of transferring it from my phone to laptop :(.

djchameleon 02-01-2011 12:42 AM

would your phone let you email it to yourself?

FETCHER. 02-01-2011 06:34 AM

Nah I don't think it would but I could try with another video/pic :) xx

s_k 02-01-2011 03:15 PM

My phone does allow me to upload video's to youtube :).
I'm not sure about yours.

Burning Down 02-01-2011 03:43 PM

I used to have that problem... until I got a smartphone :)

James 02-01-2011 03:45 PM

If I figure out how I will make one tomorrow!

Ha ha! "Fan. Yeah! Off on off on!" Your video reminds me how the little things in life really make it fun.

I also like your gray/red walls and learning that you are a "sack of water." The lyrics you are working are organized very neatly into one nice little pile, Conan. You hide your inner chaotic, tortured artist well! ;)

I echo everyone else in saying that your accent is ENCHANTING!!! Your garage apartment is cool and well organized, especially those 1,200 records. Your tiny kitchen update amused me, too: a coffee-grinder with a drawer! And coffee beans nearby!! Imagine. Coffee beans! :p:

One last comment: I never bother making a bed either. I mean, WHY??? You are just going to get back in

Janszoon 02-01-2011 05:47 PM

VEGANGELICA: Your living room is absolutely gorgeous! It's like something out of an interior design magazine. Great work putting that together! :)

Thank you so much. I won't change my accent then (don't think I can :D)
I have to organise my records or I will go mad. I even have a list of them (see below this posting :)).
And the beans... It just tastes better :).
We have alternatives. I just started using beans. It's really really good.

One last comment: I never bother making a bed either. I mean, WHY??? You are just going to get back in it, and having a bed unmade (with the blankets down at the bottom) is actually supposed to help reduce dust mite populations. So really when you wake up it is best just to kick all the blankets down to the foot of the bed so your mattress can "breathe."
Thanks for giving me a reason to not make my bed.
I just make it when I have people over. Looks a bit nicer. Apart from that... let's see...

There you go. That's what it looks like right now :)
Unmade.

THE ENTRY. MY LIVING ROOM. MY KITCHEN.
I love your house. I probably wouldn't buy the same furniture, but I love the rooms themselves, the woord, the pillars and the subtle colours. It's really very very nice :)
And it's great to see some speakers. In no way ideally placed, but at least you have speakers :D. Took me some time to find them though.

It's all very nice and light. Really :).

Burning Down 02-01-2011 06:03 PM

Vegangelica, your house is beautiful. It looks really open and inviting, and I just LOVE the wood frames around the windows.. And the kitchen looks huge! I think we have the same microwave too.

s_k 02-01-2011 06:33 PM

Oh, pictures are done nicely too :).

Well, I, er, uh, don't know what to say except...

...it DOES look like that, doesn't it!!! :D

;) Thank you, Janszoon. I actually had a friend come over once and say, "It looks like a picture out of a house magazine!" It doesn't usually. Normally it looks cluttered, covered with legos, and very dusty. I prefer to blame the dust on the shedding carpet rather than on my skin, but I don't fool myself.

S_k, YES YES YES!! Your bed is in the PERFECT state for reducing the dust mite population!!! Good job. And typing fast IS very convenient.

In defense of the furniture, I actually didn't buy much of it. Most was inherited. But I did buy the dining room chairs and the two small red swivel chairs in the living room, so the blame for them falls on me alone.

I don't like overstuffed furniture. I dislike our old-fashioned, skirted sofa and the big Lazyboy (not my choice). I prefer the sleek lines of your more modern sofa, for example, but sometimes you end up with what you end up with. And the Lazyboy IS comfortable, I'll give it that.

The speakers are too high, aren't they! :( I actually have four speakers around the room so a listener can be surrounded by the sound. Two of the speakers are in the ceiling far from the TV/sound system. I don't really care about that issue but since some people do I tried to plan in speakers for their sake.

I like the wood frames toooooo!!!! They are natural pine. And the microwave is GE and I am fond of it as well. I like its easy-to-use design.

I'm glad the house looks open and inviting, Burning Down, because that's what I wanted. My goal was to have the house feel like walking in a forest, with the columns like tree trunks and the various ceiling level heights like the layering of tree limbs above your head.

I also tried to make sure the main rooms all get light from 3 sides (with the largest windows on the south to help warm the house), so you feel as if you were outdoors. Thank you for your feedback!

Haha, you don't need to defend yourself.
My entire enteriour cost me $100 or something like that :D

I always try to combine retro (70's, mainly) with sleek and simple.
But I live in a garage now. I'll prove that I can actually make things look a lot better whenever I get a house of my own ;)

They are a bit high. Yes.
Ideally their tweeters (the unit that does the high requencies, in case you don't know) should be at ear height. But I'm glad I finally see some speakers :).

Just out of curiosity, how old is your house?

s_k 02-01-2011 07:20 PM

Whose? Mine or Vegangelica's?
My house is from 1993.
