The reason you probably don't hear too many stories from black people because mental health issues and abuse is such a stigma in the black community. Either you just don't talk about it and bottle it up inside or you do say something and you are met with "I'm going to pray for you". Like prayer is supposed to heal a chemical imbalance in your brain. Almost the same reason why black people don't go to see therapists as often as others.

to get back to my point, I think there's too much going on behind white suburban walls to make blanket assumptions that blacks are more violent

My point is there are too many unknowns to reach a conclusion. Another hypothesis could be that centuries of being the oppressor have left white people more predisposed to commit violent crime. Remember, it's not my goal to argue either. My point is that really don't have enough information to fairly assume African Americans commit more violent crime per capita. Maybe, maybe not, we don't really know.
