For me its not that I'd be experiencing nothingness, its that the world would continue without me.

Even if you do something awesome it will fade into history eventually. It's really only pride that makes it an issue. Just enjoy your life and help others to enjoy their time.

What's to be scared of? It's inevitable that everyone is going to die eventually, so why be afraid of something that you can't escape. Personally i'm not afraid of it, because I've accepted the fact that it's going to happen, and there's nothing I can do to stop it.

I think that question answers itself. It's scary precisely because you can't escape it.

As true as that is, there's definitely a heavier emphasis on not being able to escape death than not being able to escape other things. I mean...we all know death happens, we all know why it happens, the only thing we don't know is what happens after.

What?
We know what happens after you die. You rot.
What exactly are you suggesting? That we should be afraid that we'll somehow be magically transported into a never-ending loop of Barney songs while getting anally penetrated by millions of very sharp stinging caterpillars, for the rest of eternity?

I can't conceive of why that would be a substantial enough leap to make that we would actually be afraid of such a possibility.

That isn't quite what I meant. I was trying to illustrate the idea of always looking forward to something. When I'm 80 I probably won't look back on it as the best four years of my life, but right now in my current mindset, I do.
