Herd immunity does **** all for flu vaccines (this is hyperbolic). Youre both derps. How does herd immunity protect against simultaneous outbreaks of different strains none of which were actually vaccinated for? I know youre all gungho about vaccines, but I'd expect you to understand the science behind this. It's pretty widely accepted that flu vaccines are not that effective, and they are constantly working to keep up with the viruses evolution.

The herd immunity thing is good at protecting against 3-4 strains.. out of 100+.

Edit: The CDC even reported that the vaccine this year was not effective against the most prevalent strain.. soo?

Bleh, I cant find the article to support this, so I'll just retract it.

Pretty sure I already admitted herd immunity is good against the 3 strains the vaccine targeted. Selective reading much?

Doesn't the vaccine have to actually be effective for herd immunity to work?

Flu shots slow the spread of a disease. Sure it doesn't always quite reach herd immunity rates of immunity, but that doesn't mean that flu shots don't serve a similar purpose.
