What pie mate?

Frownland 05-30-2016 09:05 AM

Eel pie is really popular in Virginia, so probably that.

Anything fruit, or pecan. None of that weirdo meat pie garbage that you people eat.

News to me. I've never even been to a place that sold or served eel so far as I know.

They do jellied eels in East London. They look like a train wreck but I've always wanted to try them.

Try eel nigiri next time you get sushi. It's the only thing I always get when I can afford sushi.

Scrambled is the superior way to eat eggs, my friend.

Throw in some A1 Sauce and you've got yourself a delicacy.

GuD 05-30-2016 10:16 AM

I eat what I can, being homeless doesn't give me a lot of options. I think eggs are okay to eat, same with other non sentient crittets like scallops. I just dislike the process egg farming involves. When my days of vagrancy are over and I have the time I'll raise my own hens.

I actually do this, lol. And they are far superior. Even more superior are duck eggs.

GuD 05-30-2016 10:21 AM

I've heard that before. A friend had an ostriche egg omelette. Apparently you only need one but they are not so good. Quail eggs are a yuppie trend here in sf. 7$ for an 8pack of eggs the size of Hershey's kisses. I'm like wuuuuuhhhh?

And then I found out you raise chickens and eat eggs with steak sauce. Although I suppose raising chickens is something a serious hippy might do. A chicken coop right next to the pot field.

I prefer to have a little style to my eggs.

Sunny-side-up eggs are the face of breakfast, and there's just no getting around that indisputable fact of life.

http://www-tc.pbs.org/food/wp-conten...scramble-2.jpg

Scrambled eggs have an aesthetic problem that they need to work on.

If scrambled, ketchup or bust.

I have a very similar style of scrambling, but I don't use any seasoning. I use Velveeta, which adds creaminess and the right blend of seasoning. 4 eggs, and 2 slices scrambled in the pan over medium/high heat with a constant folding action and removal from the heat at times, then plated just before they're done so they finish cooking on the plate. Perfection.

Another variation I do is with fresh Spinach and some good Havarti.

My Mom used to use a little bit of Curry powder in eggs and Omlettes, but I can never duplicate that taste. It's always a little off when I do it, but it does add a little bit of earthiness to the flavor.

Luckily the only thing I have to live up to with my mother's cooking is learning how to properly overcook unseasoned flank steak.

Frownland 05-31-2016 08:11 AM

Lucky you.

Plankton 05-31-2016 08:24 AM

She must be very proud that you learned how to do that.

The Batlord 05-31-2016 08:28 AM

I have yet to learn that technique. It is purely hers.

Plankton 05-31-2016 08:55 AM

Cooking is pretty simple. I always get some sadness in me when someone says they don't know how to cook. They're at the mercy of about 73% of the rest of the world in order to have a chance at a decent meal.

Yeah same, I know people who can barely cook beans on toast, I just don't get how you can get to your 20s not able to do things like roast a chicken. Cooking is quite relaxing and enjoyable. Spend about half a day most weekends in the kitchen doing something in bulk then put in portions and freeze for the week. Decent life skill to have imo.

Plus it's way cheaper when you can cook for yourself.

Chula Vista 05-31-2016 10:54 AM

Plus it's very rewarding when you cook something that comes out really good. Pick up an easy recipe book and just follow the directions closely. Voila! You can cook.

Key 05-31-2016 10:58 AM

It's actually shocking how much money you can save if you buy the ingredients to cook as opposed to paying for meals all the time. Especially if you buy in bulk at Costco etc.
