Completely fed up with this sciatic flair up. It takes me minutes just to get up out of my recliner and be able to stand up straight and walk. Take one of your fingers and bend it backwards to the point you can't take the pain and then imagine that sensation running down your entire leg.

Trollheart 01-15-2017 05:08 PM

Sucks getting old don't it? ;) My trips to the ground are taking a lot longer to get back from these days. Oh me back! :yikes:

DwnWthVwls 01-15-2017 05:10 PM

Sounds like you need a shot in the ass and some light stretching.

Chula Vista 01-15-2017 05:16 PM

I've had it since my late teens so age is not the factor. And ya, DWV, once better I really need to work on my core.

The sciatic nerve is the largest single nerve in the human body; it runs from each side of the lower spine through deep in the buttock into the back of the thigh and all the way down to the foot. It serves a vital role in connecting the spinal cord with the leg and foot muscles.
Gotta stretch yo ass, thighs, and lower back to relieve the inflation pinching the nerve. Start with cat/camel stretches, which are very safe if youre mobile enough to get on your hands and knees.

Speaking from vast experience gotta disagree. My past PT docs would too. It has nothing to do with the pain but has everything to do with avoiding a flare up. If my core is strong I'm a ton less likely to pinch the nerve in the first place.

Yeh, I deleted that part cause it was misleading. Core does consider the lower back, but I was thinking abs. The point was just saying doing situps, and ab work isn't going to help as much as stretching and developing muscle/flexibility in the areas where the nerve actually exists. I was pre-PT, before changing my major to envl science. Not that I'm an authority on the area, just sayin.

I don't really see how you're going to avoid flare ups working a somewhat unrelated area, unless you are doing strenuous activity and activating muscles for support you really shouldn't need. Since you don't have a physical job that seemed unlikely.

Edit: Not saying you/they are wrong. Just basing it on my limited knowledge. Do whatever they say.

X 2. Why are so many people picking ugly bastards as their avatars, huh? BIG drop in quality from yer previous one DWV!

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-15-2017 05:40 PM

it's ki...

DwnWthVwls 01-15-2017 05:41 PM

Ki found it funny, that's all that matters. I'm in avatar transition, and since Ki has a huge face for an avatar I thought it would be funny. I really should have zoomed in like his.

Chula Vista 01-15-2017 05:50 PM

Appreciate the input DWV.

Riighhht... I'm assuming Batty knew this, whereas I didn't, so he baited his trap and I blundered into it like, well, like a hungry Trollheart I guess. Sure leaves me looking stupid. One-nil to the Batlord! Well played, sir.

Apols, Ki.

1 hour 57 minutes. ****ing killed it today!

innerspaceboy 01-15-2017 09:51 PM

Was finally winding down to go to sleep, when suddenly a horrifying realization popped into my mind.

In just two years, it will be the TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY of The Crow.

Damn it I'm old.

Ever seen the interview with Brandon shortly before he was accidentally killed? It's so damn spooky in how prophetic it was in hindsight. Especially around the 5:00 mark.

It's bizarre - I'd seen that interview only once, years back, but every word was instantly familiar and I found myself speaking along with him throught the whole clip.

Fantastically memorable, even after all this time. Thanks for reminding me.

Jesus! What did one hour and fifty-seven minutes ever do to you? That's a bit extreme! Think of all those little seconds, left orphans now...

RIP Brandon. Did you ever see the series they made about it? It was actually really well written, though cancelled after one season unf.

I'd say that isn't entirely inaccurate. But considering that Chula Rock is generally wanky and boring as **** I'd say that isn't inconsistent. It's only in the last year that I stopped hating prog rock after all.

No, I haven't seen it. (Actually, I threw out my TV in ‘99 when the series was airing, and as I only had a few rabbit ears stations from ‘96-’99 there's actually very little I’ve seen after the original broadcast of Red Dwarf series VII on PBS. (Though I did download the remaining episodes in the years that followed.

The last Simpsons episode I saw was The Telltale Head, (episode #8) and the lightning boy episode of series 3 of The X-Files was my final TV memory. I recall that it featured Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot.”

But I’m sure I haven't missed much. ;)

Yeah here in America we call them "seasons". Get hip, square.

Why is walking around in a mall so exhausting? That's what I did this afternoon, and now I feel like I'm just going to collapse on the floor.

I think your body is letting you know that you are getting old.

Walking around the mall is a good workout though. I see little old ladies speedwalking around my local mall.
