Haven't you two married just a few months ago?

What?? Abusive wife?? What happened? You were all about her just a few months ago, I think I've missed how it's progressed since then.

We've lived together for nearly 3 years but yes - we only wed about 7 months ago. The abuse and mental illness were present early on, but I remained patient (perhaps far longer than I should have) and was encouraging with the hope that she would seek counseling, medication, and be proactive to improve her situation.

Sadly, things only got worse after she moved in with me. And after a few of life's slings and arrows, she spiraled downward into severe mental illness, financial dependency, mania, rage fits, verbal abuse, a complete lack of hygiene, and generally stopped caring for herself.

I won't bore you with the gory details, but suffice it to say that she's been very sick for a long time and that the relationship has been irreparably unhealthy.

I've endured abusive relationships in the past - my last before the marriage was 7 years with a verbally and physically abusive hoarder who similarly let her life collapse and who was also completely financially dependent on me. I'm not going to wait through another 6 years of the same, and instead I'm taking the necessary action to better the circumstance for both myself and for my wife. This will force her to take responsibility for herself, to find a job, and to seek therapy.

I apologize for the mess. I'm tidying up presently.

Yesterday while walking into a movie theater some chick a few feet from me said, "Hey, cutie!" and it took me a few seconds to realize that she was talking to me. By this point I was already walking past her and going for the door so I didn't even say anything back, but I gotta say, kind of offended. Not because I was being singled out in public and objectified. That was nice. I felt degraded because she was a Shrekapotamus. I'm too shallow for this world.

Just got off of the phone with the lawyers. I'll be spending the next 2 days going through an 8" tall stack of emails to identify some particular types of content that we'll need for some upcoming depositions. That's about 2,000 pieces of paper.

Today was my summons for jury duty and I got picked for jury slecteion but was not selected. I wasn't even in the group that got questioned. I wanted to pretend I was racist :(.

I accepted the job offer today! Very excited about my new career in IT. There will be much to learn, like proprietary software and troubleshooting techniques, but more importantly, it will challenge me to be more social, with both clients and working in a team of 8-10 professional peers.

That, and the added bonus of not working for an a**hat bible thumper.

I used to work in Geek Squad. That used to work a lot.

Just got a settlement offer from Megacorp (MC) that the Chinese Factory (CF) pre-approved.

What a freaking insult and slap in the face to my company (DB). Brief recap:

Over the course of 16 years DB designed and developed a hugely successful line of commercial speakers for MC. 18 unique models. The original 6 models that went into production back in 1998 have become the industry standards and still sell in huge numbers today.

We put all of this business into CF and estimate that it's resulted in DB placing orders of over $50 million in sales to CF through the years. MC has probably had sales of upwards of a quarter of a billion dollars over the same time period.

Back in the spring of 2014 MC met with CF and told them they wanted to cut DB out so they could save a little money. CF would also be able to make more money off of the deal. In september 2014 CF simply stopped shipping product that we had ordered and started selling it direct to MC.

- Our sales dropped 85% overnight since CF also stopped shipping our products for other customers too.
- Annual sales went from about $8 million down to $1.2 million.
- In about 8 months DB went from 35 employees down to 3.
- We had to break out lease on our office building and liquidate all of our assets at huge losses.
- I had to take a 30% pay cut. Linda lost an awesome job so it's really hurt us personally.
- CF and MC are using our designs and trade secrets. MC broke California laws by interfering with a business relationship.
- We can only afford 2 lawyers.
- Both CF and MC have been using a couple of worldwide firms that employ dozens of lawyers all over the world.

This is what MC offered for totally destroying a 40 year old family owned business.

Half a million up front of which 50% has to be paid out to CF. Then 2.5% of their purchases of the systems we designed for the next 5 years. And we have to turn over all of our trade secrets and intellectural property to them.

We figure that the 2.5% would equal about $1.5 million total over 5 years. At least it's an easy decision to tell them to **** off.

TL;DR

Just got butt ****ed.
