It’s a billion dollar industry. They have a huge propaganda machine and political lobby.

And I ****ing administered those tests for years. Your chart is a survey of teachers who HAVE to do it and they’re being asked about it at WORK.

But yeah, you know ****loads more than me about it. Thanks for learning me.

What state were you a teacher in, OccultHawk?

I have no teaching experience. I'm just going off of the tons of data that's out there to chew on. I don't deny you hated it. I don't deny you think it's a bad thing. I'm not implying I know more than you. Far from it.

The vast majority of what I've read paints common core in a pretty positive light. Maybe your school district just implemented it badly.

Quote:

The Common Core State Standards have drawn both support and criticism from politicians, analysts, and commentators. Teams of academics and educators from around the United States led the development of the standards, and additional validation teams approved the final standards. The teams drew on public feedback that was solicited throughout the process and that feedback was incorporated into the standards. The Common Core initiative only specifies what students should know at each grade level and describes the skills that they must acquire in order to achieve college or career readiness. Individual school districts are responsible for choosing curricula based on the standards.
4 out of 5 dentists approve of Common Core Standards. Your results may vary.

Florida - we used FCAT and FSA which are just spinoff tests from Pearson Education.

I guess I could get to it and really explain how these huge corporate bureaucracies ruin kids lives by the millions by turning them into products and go detail by detail what it costs, who profits from it, how time consuming it is, how it funnels money away from low income schools, how it’s negatively impacted alternative learners and rebellious kids, the insane high stakes impact, the poorly worded questions, the favoritism toward the upper middle class and the rich, how the scores are manipulated, how corrupt it is, how it fails to measure anything honestly, how fun classrooms are decimated, students put in wrong classes due to faulty results, kids dying from cancer being forced to take it (yes), guidance closing for two months to administer the tests, jumps in teen suicide, and on and on but...

but **** it

Chula has a chart or a quote and read something

Numbers haven't been updated since 2002. But at that point there were 13.5K school districts in the US and 178 state dependent school systems.

Again, I'm not implying that your personal experience with CCSS didn't suck.

Just pointing out that your biased opinion isn't representative of CCSS on a whole from what I've read/researched.

There's over 3 million elementary school teachers at any given point in the states. You're just one data point in the really big picture.
You have a teaching background. Are you saying that numbers lie?

I get my life experience opinions shat upon all the time here. You get used to it.

Plus, Florida.

Frowny, go drink your own piss. Everyone here knows you have the superior piss. And anyone who argues otherwise is simply "wrong".

ok you’re impressively informed thank god you vote

So Frown doesn’t have a point? It seems like ****ty things take hold all the time.

Hey, I got an idea! Why don’t you submit your research to UCSD and maybe they’ll upgrade your GED or whatever the **** you have into a Ph.D. Then you can really get your feet wet. Learn those state standards and design your curriculum then spoon feed it bit by bit to third graders. Meet with their mothers tell them it doesn’t matter what they did all year they blew one ****ing test and now they’re being retained. Then next year when test season rolls around and the kid pisses himself in class and starts crying you can deal with it because guidance is closed because all the counselors are being used to figure out how all the students are going to be tested during the allotted time window. Meanwhile, you’re caring for the psychological well-being of some kid who pissed himself so you’re not “hitting the standard”. And bam three of your students are being retained next year. But hey it’s cool. There’s a data sheet put together by people getting rich off selling the tests, billions a year, you’re just a singular data point. Oh **** your student’s mother overdosed on heroin two weeks before the test. Guidance is closed. She’s not even trying during the second hour of the math test. She’s sitting there crying. ****. It’s distracting the entire class. Her best friend is asking what’s wrong. Get the hall monitor proctor. **** her personal life this is a state mandated test. Or you could take her in the hallway yourself since you’re the one the kid knows and has trusted all year. What you left the students unattended for three minutes during the test. The whole class’ tests could be invalidated. You’re called before arbitration. You were out of compliance. Bill Gates and the Clintons and the entire Democratic Party agree. You’re a great guy but we got to care for the kids and get your incompetent ass out of the classroom. Look at your VAM scores! They’re pitiful.

I’m not telling you my story. ****, my lower quartile numbers got me tenured. It’s not sour grapes. I lived it. You can say but but but but 4 out of 5 all the **** you want. 4 out 5 people would be dead certain Bruno Mars is more talented than Mark E Smith except they never heard The Fall but it doesn’t matter because they can’t think critically about music, neo-liberalism, whatever ****ing war, these stupid ****ing tests and what the **** else. I’m one data point that thinks The Fall are ****ing unassailable. But 999 out of 1000 disagree. Maybe my speakers are ****ed up. How could this be?
