Got woken up this morning at about 5:30 AM to LOUD hammering and banging coming from the first floor. I'm on the third so the fact that it woke me up and kept me awake is evident on how loud it was. I tried going back to sleep and just couldn't. I thought maybe the dude was hanging something but it just kept on going. My temper and annoyance got the best of me and I put on pants and a coat and went downstairs.

The dude was ripping up flooring to lay carpet before the sun f*cking came up. I very sternly asked him what planet he lives on where working this loud before the sun rises is okay and he responded by getting right in my face and cussing me out, calling me a f*cking punk and to get the f*ck out of his face. I turned around and started going back up the stairs because it was too early for this sh*t and I called him a f*cking assh*le as I did it. I was on about the fourth or fifth stair when I feel hands on my shoulders as he grabbed my coat and ripped me backwards causing me to stumble. Putting my hand out to brace myself against the wall he just threw me against, I got an abrasion on my thumb and what already felt like a nice bruise.

Couldn't believe it but I didn't sock him in the face. I told him I'm calling the f*cking cops now and he told me to f*cking go ahead and call them so I did. Well, I called 911 and reported it as an assault. The cops got there fairly quickly but when I went outside to meet them they really didn't seem too concerned. They asked me what happened and I told the same story as above and just as I was finishing, the man who attacked me stuck his head out of the front door. The two cops went over to talk to them as two more arrived and stayed with me. I asked them if they wanted me to fill the in on my side of the story. They basically said no and that I should just stay here and wait.

So I did, and I watched the other two talking with f*ckface, and at no time did any officer write a single f*cking thing down. They didn't ask me for my ID or write down an official statement, and they didn't write down f*ckface's name or anything. I couldn't hear their conversation but it looked like they knew each other. It was very chummy. Not really what I expected to see from police officers questioning a possible assault crime, simple as it may be. They didn't ask if I wanted medical attention. I didn't need it but they didn't even f*cking ask.

Cops come back over and ask me what I want to do. I said I didn't really know yet. They asked if I wanted them to write an official report and I said, yes, the dude threw me from a flight of stairs, I was assaulted, yes, write this down. First cop said okay but then the second one said that there seems to be a misunderstanding between me and f*ckface. Cop said that he told them he didn't know there was anybody in the building and that's why he was working. He said he wanted to apologize. I told the cop that the noise complaint is NOT what I called about. I called about a f*cking assault and he told me to lower his voice and that my temper is what got me into this in the first place.

Couldn't believe it. I was alone. These cops weren't going to f*cking help me. I should have stood my ground and told them to write up my complaint but I said I'd talk to him and he gave me this bullsh*t story about how I was coming at him in an aggressive manner and how he didn't know who I was and what I'd do. I said to his face that if he was trying to defend himself why the f*ck he decided to pull me back down the stairs to where he was after I started walking up them. Doesn't make much sense if he was scared. I expected the cops to look at me and be like "good point" but they just looked bored and uninterested.

F*ckface put his hand out and said that he'll apologize for his half and I should for mine and I f*cking looked at the cops one last time and one of them nodded his goddamn head as if to say "This is what we want you to do. F*ck you." So I shook it and I heard one of them tell him not to start working until seven and I just stood there and they just said bye and left. They literally left me, with the dude that just attacked me, still standing outside. They just left me with him. I still can't f*cking believe it. I walked around the block and smoked a cigarette.

There's two possible realities at play here.

• They knew the guy personally and didn't want to arrest him and tried to get me to play ball, which they succeeded in because I knew I wouldn't win.
• Or they're completely incompetent morons and failed to write a police report for a f*cking assault victim would WANTED one written and called 911 to do so.

Police reports are written every time there is a call to 911. If I show up dead next week with a claw hammer in my skull wrapped up in a carpet, they're gunna see a report last week about my altercation with a carpet guy. That's why they exist. It BLOWS MY F*CKING MIND one wasn't written. I just moved to town. It's not like they have a reason to hate me yet.

My landlord said the guy is done working after today so I'm not pursuing charges because I don't f*cking care at this point. Too much hassle. I don't have time for it. I am however going to the police station tomorrow and requesting a copy of the police report. They either have one or they don't. I don't believe they do because the whole thing lasted less than five minutes and they asked me for ZERO info and never took down his name or anything. If that's the case I'm going to demand why one wasn't made and make a full complaint.

I will update tomorrow.

I'm still pissed.
