That's just the nature of the beast when you are a store manager at some corperation. What's the better option... Being the underling who gets paid less so someone else can step in and do what you weren't willing to? Nothing changes there except your status. The same outcome occurs.

I'm not completely amoral either I guess I just have less morals.

I don't think it's just the boss that dictates it. It's a pragmatic result of any heirarchical structure. If there wasn't menial **** and dirty work to be done then underlings would be out if a job.

do you have a job? Do you pay taxes? How exactly are you outside the status quo. You said you live as if you can't be governed. Give me an example of how you are less governed than I am by the same exact existing authority.

I know you would rather talk about me. You would rather try to use information I've offered up willingly to try to insult me. While you hide in the shadows.

But my only stance on the old college try is that my choices got me where I am, in part. So hopefully making better choices will improve my situation.

I've said it before and I'll say it again .. I'm not saying the system is great. I don't have that much control over the system though. I do have control over what I choose to do. The fact that you would malign this basic, common sense stance would be surprising, except we've already established you're a bitter old man with nothing to live for who just wants to wreak havoc in the society you think screwed you over.

Yeah that's why it's so insidious. A CEO can't afford to deal with the bottom rung as if they're people so they have to exist merely as numbers on graphs and reports, dehumanizing anyone below a certain level of their awareness, and anyone below hoping move up that ladder have to internalize to greater and greater degrees the idea that employees below them are numbers and not people and therefore disposable. I'm not willing to adopt that mentality.

I don't particularly care for most people but that doesn't mean I'm a sociopath who doesn't care how my actions affect them. My misanthropy softens with proximity and duration to others and while I still have little desire to be around them for long periods of time or learn the details of their lives it still bothered the hell out of me when my co-worker who'd had a c-section had to go back to work after like a week off. How much more emotionally dead would I have to become to be that guy who enforced that?

We're not delusional, most of us know that we act contradictory to our morals and are parts of the problem. We just refuse to let go of our morals because nothing changes if you accept everything as is. They really just like to take the piss out of elph though, that's really all this is.

Honestly, most supervisor positions are completely unnecessary and are exploited by people that look to abuse their power. I've turned down a promotion to be supervisor and the raise it came with because of my morals before. It made a huge difference on my conscious and possibly prevented a good coworker from quitting. It's kind of a pick your battles when you can situation though. WWWP's solution is much smarter, but I'm just angry because I know how often good food gets wasted. Not even at elph, most of us would have done the same thing.

My sister manages a fast food place. She just got her bachelor's and is applying for her own franchise. She's far from a sociopath. She has more morals than I do. She just wants a better life for her and her daughter.

I'm not even saying rise through the ranks at BK. I worked at Walmart and I had an opportunity to get fast tracked for management and I turned it down for similar reasons. But don't write off the prospect of success completely, man. I believe that mentality is a trap. Some of the more cynical socialist types would ironically rather you stay a wage slave so long as that keeps you loyal to the cause. That's the real reason success and wealth are frowned upon by those circles imo.
