It will never work.

I help 4 children with their math homework every week. I can tell you that from my experience, common core is not about learning, but about control.

They don't even teach them the original / basic ways of math. They won't let you just add the fucking numbers together and get an answer. You have to round each number to the nearest 10, then to the nearest 100, then add those, then subtract the originals from the rounded, add those, then subtract that from the answer you got by rounding and adding. Or some stupid shit like that.

If you do it the old way and get the right answer, they count it wrong b/c you didn't follow directions properly.

I have seen some god awful fugly chicks post it and I had to [mentally] call BULLSHIT. And when a male posts it, they get laughed at. Like men can't be victims?

Couldn't agree more!

Control of the population. Push agenda into the minds of kids who don't know any better.

Free education sounds enticing. I think access to knowledge should be free in this day and age. But free education only comes from tax money. And taxation is theft. I can understand the argument that if we are going to be taxed anyways, we may as well use those taxes for something good like free education. Find a way to make education free w/o using tax money and I'm all for it.

Education will be free as soon as we abolish money.

In disregard for all my nihilism, I actually disagree with this. People in general are pretty retarded when it comes to deciding how the actual world should work (f.ex. North Korea, the economy, Russia, etc) but when it comes to things within their actual lifesphere they can be surprisingly intelligent. And I think learning trades when it's free and right in their faces via public education could very well be one of those things. I'm not saying that your average person would revolutionize the auto industry, but I very much think they could grow up to be perfectly good mechanics who tried their ass off to be a mechanic. They just have to be given the chance via a public education system that isn't a garbage heap and now I see your issue. But I mean we can fix this ****, right?

Clever answer. Go do it then. I guarantee you have no idea how hopeless it is.

[merit] I know what you’re talking about. They’re trying to teach kids how numbers work in a base 10 system. Like everything, they take a good idea, get too rigid with it, it gets all ****ing political, and the whole thing gets way out of hand. Everything is public school is complete bat****.

Well then how would you teach kids? I mean if they'd never made school compulsory how many parents would actually make their kids go to school these days? It's kind of an assumed thing at this point that doesn't even need to force parents cause they've been forced so long that they don't even think about it. But I shudder to think what would have happened had parents never been forced to send their kids to school in the first place. Outlawing child labour and forcing them to go to school were kind of a turning point.

No. We can’t.
