Off topic but you’ve reminded me of a scary event at age 5. We lived on the edge of the beach so swimming summer and winter was my thing. One cold morning walking into the water I stood on a stingray. It shot forward so fast I fell backwards , luckily not getting stung. They somehow managed to cover themselves with sand so could be invisible. Didn’t stop me going for my before school swim every morning though.

Being ‘gay’ in Saudi Arabia often isn’t what it appears to be. Instance, otherwise straight males don’t consider themselves gay if they only top. Delusional nonsense sometimes repeated in the west, in jail for example. My view is human sexuality is often delusional when denial rears it’s ugly head.

Two gay friends and their two sons returned to Australia today after six years in Hong Kong. Their boys are now 4 and 8 so I saw some changes. The youngest startled me with a joke. "A man is sitting at the doctor's office. The doctor says, "I have some bad news. I'm afraid you're going to have to stop masturbating." "I don't understand, doc," the patient says. "Why?" "Because," the doctor says. "I'm trying to examine you."

My generation knew nothing about sex at that age. How things have changed.
Now before any of you start in on ‘What do you expect with gay parents’, last year two straight friends visited with the three brats. 5.6 & 8 years old. At the front door the six year old asked me “You got any computer games’? When I answered in the negative the oldest asked “You got any porn we can watch”. Judging from mum & dad’s lack of reaction this wasn’t something unusual.

I don't think things have changed that much. When I was a kid, our neighbors taught their two year old to cuss like a sailor, they thought it was cute. I caught up with him twenty some years later. He was totally embarrassed by what his parents did.

I'm pretty sure my own 6 year old does not know what porn is. For myself, I guess I learned about it around 10-12 years of age or so? I was definitely exposed to it way earlier (younger than 5) when I found some magazines in a wooded area, but I didn't understand what it was.

The town / area where I spent most of my childhood is riddled with old german WW2 bunkers. Kids, mostly young boys, used to use those bunkers as hangouts and finding racy magazines lying around in them was fairly common occurrence when exploring.

A buddy of mine would steal porn mags at the local gas station and hide a stash of them under a big rock a few hundred meters from his parents' house. His parents also had cable TV and while porn was censored in Norway with the screen just going black whenever it was on, he managed to bypass by switching to danish subtitles so he could record porn on VHS. So he snuck about the house at night time to do that and some of the VHS tapes got passed around.

All that hard work back in the day just to get a hold of some porn. Once, a group of us collected a dumb amount of bottles that we used to buy a porno mag (bottles returned to stores in exchange for money/things), but we were late teenagers and I guess it was more of a comedy stunt.
