Someone is bashing Wes Anderson films? Not gonna happen on my watch. Rushmore, Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited, Royal Tennenbaums...all classics.

Plus he uses some great music sometimes. Seu Jorge singing Portuguese covers of David Bowie songs? Genius. David Bowie even said he prefers some of those covers to his own version.

-also, Wes Anderson is awesome. And he does use great music... I love the Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack.... almost as much as the movie itself.

Lynch is quite depressed also. However, I think they'd love to see me recognize the master who influenced both of them.

Bullsh*t. C'mon, you can like it or not, but low key it is not.

It was good I found the acting pretty dated though. Rebecca Demornay was sexy in it I'm not sure why.

Kubrick and Anderson are two of my favourite directors.

Lateralus, Erin Brokovich is such an amazing movie. I really think this was one of Julia Roberts' best performances.

Man, I felt pretty much the opposite. It seemed like such a forced effort at being precious to me.

Watched it last night having just read the book. I found it followed the book very well, but I failed to see why Sean Penn earned an Oscar for his performance. All the acting was good, but I found Sean Penn a little cheesy at points and unable to correctly convey the persona of Jimmy in others. I felt like Penn portrayed Jimmy as more of a villain, where as in the book, his actions are explained and somewhat justified. Also, they don't delve much into Jimmy's past, where a lot of his character development comes from. Overall it was a good film, I would recommend reading the book to compare.

Just saw William Friedkin's Bug last night. I really think its his best after French Connection and The Exorcist (although I havent seen Sorcerer which I hear is great). It was based on a play and from what I read it follows it pretty faithfully, and you can really tell that it was a play because of a the dialogue (which is great) and the sole location. I dont see why this movie was so panned when it was released, I thought it was very effective

Spielberg's War of the Worlds. It was pretty good, though the book was better.

Yeah, the book doesn't have that annoying kid screaming throughout. :banghead: The movie was ok, coulda done with having a different director and main star.

Intervista (1987) by Federico Fellini.

http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8...ervistamk9.jpg

^Begins with a crew form a Japanese television, coming to interview Fellini, continues with a movie inside a movie inside a TV show. All, with the usual absurdities.

Ginger e Fred (1986)by Federico Fellini.

http://www.toninoguerra.org/image/gi...fred_libro.jpg

Plot: Amelia (Giulietta Masina) and Pippo (Marcello Mastroianni) are reunited after several decades to perform their old music-hall act (imitating Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers) on a TV variety show.-IMDB
Extremely hilarious. This whole melodramatic story happening between Fellini's wife and his alter-ego, I found that breathtaking, while attacking mercilessly the stupidity of television. Another great movie.

I'll be watching La Strada next, and for the second time, as I missed young Giulietta Masina, that woman is a joy.

I liked it. I liked it a good bit. It was funny. Some parts dragged but that was alright.

Yeah, the screaming was really annoying. And Tom Cruise was ok in it but I think there are better roles for him. They probably should have gonee with somebody else though.

5/10*

Average.

Nothing happens? That's not true. A bunch of older kids spank younger ones..

Akira 04-18-2010 04:59 PM

I love Dazed and Confused, got a lot of fond memories about it also, plus both the soundtracks are great. I guess I like it for the characters, the antics and the era.

Both incredible. Especially Se7en.

TheCunningStunt 04-18-2010 05:44 PM

Zodiac > Se7en.

Don't think I really liked Se7en that much when I watched it, Zodiac was brilliant though. Nice choices. :thumb:

storymilo 04-18-2010 06:33 PM

^ I'm the complete opposite from you man. I really enjoyed Se7en, but I thought Zodiac was kind of meh. It dragged on.. and on... and o....yawn. But yes Se7en was rather great.

I've been rewatching star wars the past 3 nights... my family decided to rent episodes 4, 5 & 6 for some reason so I got an excuse to watch them. Still fun movies, though I started to fall asleep at the end of 'A New Hope'.:p:

TheCunningStunt 04-18-2010 06:59 PM

I thought Zodiac was long but it just built up the tension.. I can't even remember what happened in Se7en. Gonna re watch it very soon, not seen it in a while.

*Gulps* Star Wars is shit. There I said it.. Don't hurt me.

Scarface was my favourite film for so long when I was younger.. I still like it, but I used to think it was THE film, flawless.. and then I got older. :(

It's good, but overrated by every man on the planet :O

debaserr 04-18-2010 07:45 PM

it has dated poorly.

crash_override 04-18-2010 07:48 PM

Yeah Scarface has ZERO re-watch value. Plus I can't stand Al Pacino...

It's a movie that has only retained it's popularity throughout the years by being mentioned in rap songs and idolized by tween wannabe gangstas all over the US.

TheCunningStunt 04-18-2010 08:07 PM

The Insider, Insomnia were both good with Al in it.

Al Pacino has to be the most type-cast actor in Hollywood. I just get tired of him playing the same character in every movie. Plus I can't stand his voice, or most of the facial expressions he has over used over the last 30 years.

TheCunningStunt 04-18-2010 08:14 PM

I'd agree with that. Di Niro is the same though.. except for the voice, I like his voice.

Yeah, well he had a couple of non type-cast roles, like Awakenings, he was great in that. But other than that, it's pretty blah.

DoctorSoft 04-18-2010 09:48 PM

I saw Fargo, oh Jesus.Steve Buscemi(probably spelled wrong) is amazingly funny. I'm probably gonna buy this and A Serious Man, they're both two of my favourite movies.

The wood chipper scene with Peter Stormare is a bit of a giggler in a dark way. Does he really expect to get away after that?

littleknowitall 04-19-2010 05:25 AM

Watched Harry Brown last night. Really enjoyed it.

FETCHER. 04-19-2010 09:25 AM

I like al pacinos voice, it nice. I loved the accent. Plus he was pretty hot  in scarface that is. not now.

TheCunningStunt 04-19-2010 09:27 AM
