Hah, I watched that one not long back too. It was too far-fetched for me...

I like the ideas that were explored and it had its moments. Maybe it was just because I was sleepy, but **** did I get bored at times... |

Saw this recently:
http://pacejmiller.files.wordpress.c...vie_poster.jpg Comedy/Romance Plenty of funny moments. I liked the scenario that flip-sided the standard "awkward guy trying to get a girl". In this case it's "awkward guy trying to get a guy friend". Paul Rudd did a really good job being completely embarrassing. I was actually a little embarrassed for him while watching it. Jason Segel is always fun to watch. Both characters in the movie were a nice atypical mix that I enjoyed. There were some parts that were just unnecessary other than to capitalize on the main character's awkwardness as a "guy" guy, which is pretty well established throughout the movie in more clever ways.. but it didn't turn me off from watching the whole thing so it wasn't that bad for me. Overall, I'd give it an 7.5 out of 10 for the type of movie it is. I enjoyed it and I'd recommend it to those of you who haven't seen it. |
^^ ^^ I thought that film was enjoyable and i thought it was funny. I thought it was alot better than i was expecting it to be but was also a bit let down at how they ended it. Did you not think it was all a bit predictable and unimaginative? Its a shame too cause the film isnt bad at all.

I love Shaun of the Dead. Its one of my favourite films. It was based on an episode of Spaced, if you ever got round to watching it. ;)

Best use of music in a film EVER! |
I watched it and felt like yeah, I'm watching a classic. Even though it's not one of my favourites it was very well done, the swagger of Johnny boy. The relationships between the characters, the divided loyalties.. and the promiscuous ending.

That was one of my favourite scenes, one of the scenes that struck me most. The way he entered with that swagger and 'I am the man' persona around him, matched together with the most rock n roll group that had swagger in abundance. Really good scenes.
Mean Streets - most enjoyable. Pissed off I never found out what happened to Johnny Boy though. |

The Hurt Box
The Hurt Box, the ending is absolutly awesome in this movie.
It really gives a reflection to some of these guys that are, and have been in Iraq. |

Meh... I didn't care for it that much. Seemed extremely overrated and overplayed imo. Maybe it's because I actually did serve in Iraq while in the Army. |

I'm really disappointed in you Violent & Funky :( I enjoyed Mean Streets, not comparable to Goodfellas though. |

It must had been an experience to remember. You should be very proud Brother. My son is a tech agent in the air force, he has been to iraq 3 or 4 times already, a couple times to afgan. He is stationed in Biloxi, Miss. What part of Louisiana are you from, I read your post in the local music scene thread. |
Where The Wild Things Are. Did they seriously make that film for a child audience? It's overlong, very sad, and far too boring to keep anyone entertained. The plot was really predictable as well.
|
I think the very last film I watched was Oliver Stone's U Turn. But to be honest, I was pretty drunk and not paying attention to a lot of parts. Didn't hold a candle to Natural Born Killers, imo.
But I did have the happy opportunity recently to watch some Jim Jarmusch films, Dead Man and Coffee and Cigarettes and I liked them both very much. |

Never read the book but the film is my favorite from last year. Fun yet multilayered. And a great soundtrack to boot.

I just returned from a cine-concert. The movie was Dans la nuit (1929), a film by Charles Vanel, and the last French Silent movie. The score was composed specially for this film, which is in a way the concert, by Louis Sclavis (former member of the Henri Texier Quartet). ^ First of all, I like the movie. Some great scenes, shows the German expressionism influence. It's about a young happily married couple, that witness the destruction of their conjugal life, following a mine accident that left the husband disfigured. ^Second of all, the score. Just to leave you with a taste of what the concert sounded like, here's a youtube clip, with the music of Louis Sclavis. |
Wow, that must have been an awesome experience.

It's a shame cine-concerts aren't more popular. I can't think of a greater concept actually. And yeah, it was an awesome experience :D |
