I understand some of the "concerns" but I fail to see how any of it was anti - Semitic. Maybe I'm overlooking a lot, I dont know.
Yeah, I didn't really see where the complaints of anti-semitism were coming from either. The movie was no more or less anti-semitic than christianity in general.

That said, I still thought it was a pretty awful movie. It was basically a two hour exercise in torture with really no sense of context or character. As a result there was nothing about it that engaged me on any level. And the overuse of slow-motion was so absurd that it actually got kind of funny after a while.

Maybe Chopper is bigger over where you are. I had never heard of it until pretty recently and I don't know anyone else who has seen it. It was quite a movie though, his performance especially was the real standout for me and I liked the cinematography quite a bit.

Its not really the most hilarious comedy of the year, incase you were wondering.

It's not bad but its probably mediocre at best.

As a fan of Simon Pegg I was a little disappointed to see him playing this kind of role, the quirky, odd Englishman because he is English so thats the law but I guess he did quite well with it and he was funny.

Quite a predicatble film, as romcoms can tend to be. If it wasnt for Pegg I wouldnt have bothered. Also, there are a few charaters, mainly Gillian Andersons that may as well not be there as I cant think of a single thing she contributed to the film.

Worth it for a laugh or two, probably not for much else.

I'm torn when it comes to this movie. The religious aspect became very annoying after a while, and I didn't care for how the monsters looked. The story was typical Stephen King...at one point at the beginning I felt like I was watching "The Langoliers" again. But I thought Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay Harden (as annoying as her character was) did a pretty good job and the ending really got to me. (I'd never read the story, so it was a surprise to me). I also loved Frances Sternhagen's character...she was one bad ass old lady.
Favorite line from the movie:
"Shut up, you miserable buzzard! Stoning people who piss you off is perfectly okay. They do it in the Bible, don't they? And I got lots of peas! "

6.5/10

I was especially impressed with Toby Jones, a highly underrated actor.

I saw Gran Torino today... it would have been more enjoyable if the stupid bitch next to me would chew with her mouth closed and shut the fuck up.

A MIGHTY WIND

From the creators of the immortal THIS IS SPINAL TAP (what do you mean you have'nt seen it?). Another mockumentary, this time concerning 60's folk music and a reunion gig off sorts. It is not achingly laugh out loud, but has some great lines. The acting is excellent and the music is played and written by all concerned. While it gently mocks the folk scene, there is enough to suggest a mutual respect.
mark kermode sang it's praises recently.

Maybe I should see this.
Been how I understand how easy it is to be popular and get people onside.

The ending was added on by the director with King's blessing. The story's ending was more upbeat. First time I watched it I was disappointed but second viewing was a lot better once you know what was going on.

Watched last night:

Plus points:

Considering it cost £100,000 it looks excellent and is relatively well acted. It is has some great macabre moments

Minus points:

I am unclear as to the motivations of certain characters and certain ideas are only glimpsed at and never expanded upon.

Despite reviews calling this film sick, it really is not that bad. You only actually see one person being killed outright. I think if a little more black humour could have been added then it could very well attain cult status.

The ten.

Film that talks about 10 commandments. Each has its story. Pretty funny and interesting film.
