The Rock is a pretty good dramatic actor.

why wouldn't he be? he's been acting all of his life. Starting from WWF.

^^ ha ha ha

I means he sucks as an action star and a comedian

no way! his action star stuff is pretty great imo. the comedian side is a bit meh sometimes he's on but most of the time he's off.

Never Let Me Go

seriously loved this. really really dark and captivating, definitely not a film to watch to cheer you up. I'd give it a firm 8/10

Words cannot describe the experience that was today, watching this DVD with the blinds covered, surround system, and a body full of THC. That might have been the best two hours I ever spent, and it will probably be the closest thing that I will experience to a Pink Floyd concert. So many things to see, the lights, the laser, the movie playing in the background, the guitar work, the keyboard work, the vocals, the drum playing, this has to be one of the most underrated performances ever, and to me, it is the best possible experience that one could experience. I envy the people that were there, I would give 25 years of my life for a chance to experience this groundbreaking performances. It was ****ing amazing, and if you haven't seen this, watch it with the best possible home theater you can make. (Optional, but this was made to be watched stoned.)

100/10

loved that one as well - but I wasn't stoned

Guybrush 02-13-2011 04:31 AM

I agree that Pink Floyd's Pulse is brilliant!

I liked it a lot when I watched it years ago. I don't care much for it's promotion of vigilante morals though.

I think this could have been so much better, but it was so sappy. Alwell, it was still pretty good...

really enjoyed this film, great legal drama full of twists until the end. My favorite characters were definitely Edward Norton and Richard Gere, who played off of each other so well.

Funny enough I just noticed that I'm watching it on the 20 year anniversary of it's original release.

The Fighter

it was a solid film. my favorite sequences all included bale, who stole the show. I feel like they can never get the ending right for movies like this(inspirational), most of them come off as artificial.

also, the fighting scenes were boring and cliche(protagonist gets knocked down, then completes miraculous comeback). the final one seems to drag on for hours.

if this manages to win best picture the academy will lose all of their street cred with me.

Helen Mirren's sexy ass is the only reason I wanted to watch this.

Helen Mirren + weapon proficiency = pure sex

I also attempted to watch the sex and the city move but that was a waste of time. I got about 20 mins into it before I decided that is was horrible.

oh yes besides Helen Mirren, she made the movie for me it's very good though if you are in the mood for an action movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.

John Malkovich was the the funniest one out of the whole crew though. I loved every scene he was in also. Morgan Freeman had a few good one liners as well but John out-shined him.

I don't even like sports movies very much, but this one was far from cliche and boring. You can have your ballet movie, I'll keep The Fighter, thank you very much...

Tahnks for the recommendation. I've been wondering about whether to pick it up or not. Looks decent for a couple of hours of light entertainment!

chanpyn 02-15-2011 06:47 AM

Last film?
" Lemmy: 49% Mother****a 51% ******* "

It's about the Lead singer of Motorhead.

chanpyn 02-15-2011 06:49 AM

Oh wow, well I guess you can figure out Mother, but the second one is the same as Butt hole.

It's a pretty good film actually. A very nice debut for Zach Braf.

isn't blindly praising or rejecting something kind of, you know, hipster?

the movie is quite good.

Blarobbarg 02-15-2011 09:16 PM

I saw the Justin Bieber movie. Yes, really. I took a girl I know to see it with some friends. The parts talking about his life and short career were actually pretty interesting. The concert parts were awful.

It was. I had never seen him in anything else besides Scrubs so it was a nice change.

yes, i am kinda late to watch it : )

So it's now a crime to be hipster?

I mean, I'm not one, but I agree with a lot of the trve hipster ideals. >_>

it's always been a crime to be a hipster and you should be arrested for agreeing with their ideals because that makes you one whether you acknowledge it or not.

I need to watch it again. A problem I have is that I consider it inferior to The Fisher King and Brazil, but I suspect - or know actually - that it's a grower (Gilliam films generally are) and should be better the next time I watch it. I've only watched it once so far.

Paranormal Activity 2
I told myself I wasn't going to watch this. For some reason though I'm compelled to watch movies that just suck. This was no exception. No real difference from the last one. Same old bull**** with **** getting knocked over and chicks getting dragged around the house getting possessed. The only difference is that the ending was really bad it's like they wrote it in 5 minutes cause they couldn't think of anything else better to write at the last minute. The actors in this film aren't the greatest either and I find it awkward just watching them go about there day to day lives. The P.O.V. genre is pretty much dead and this was its nail in the coffin.

I believe you! Considering I hated the first, I'm sure I'm not gonna enjoy the second. Real quality ghost stories are hard to come by, I think, and it saddened me a bit that Paranormal Activity got all the hype it did. I didn't find it scary or well done. Rather, I felt it was cheap.

Those interested in ghost story type movies should watch one or more of these :

I'm very happy he mentions The Changeling :) I've yet to see Onibaba and The Uninvited, but The Changeling and The Innocents in particular are awesome!

It's definitely a movie that gets better the more you watch it. I could count on my hands & toes the amount of movies that do that.
