I was dissapointed with that. I really disliked Charlotte Gainsbourg but it had some nice touches.

anticipation 11-15-2008 01:02 PM

it was a great concept, but idk why they chose her as the main actress. she really brought nothing to the film.

garcia was great though.

simplephysics 11-15-2008 02:24 PM

I love this movie, Eternal Sunshine is much better IMO.
I saw Quantum Of Solace today.... ughhh major disappointment.

adidasss 11-15-2008 05:14 PM

I love that Paris je t'aime poster. My sis made it into the DVD cover...

The Mission - Johnny To

Another run of the mill Hong kong actioner. Dunno why I subject myself to this trite shit but hey...it passed the time.

Jim Colyer 11-15-2008 06:45 PM

I will see the new James Bond movie tomorrow night. Daniel Craig makes a good Bond.

She is even cuter in Heathers. Finished the trilogy today, so that's them back on the shelves for another two years :D

Oh man, I know a person who did the entire extended trilogy. It took them a day, with breaks to eat.

I admire that.

Last I saw was Quantum of Solace. I still prefer Casino Royale.

Yeah I wasn't too impressed.

jackhammer 11-16-2008 04:35 PM

I personally don't think that Casino Royale is all that either. As a drama piece it worked well, as a Bond Movie I don't think it delivered.

FaSho 11-16-2008 04:37 PM

Casino Royale was one of the worst Bond movies imo, and Quantum of Solace wasn't much better.

Roygbiv 11-16-2008 04:40 PM

I haven't seen the classic Bond films, so I couldn't agree or disagree. I do get the feeling that they are much more escapist fun than the latest iterations, and I have much respect for that. Casino Royale was massively entertaining, if anything. Quantum of Solace was almost TOO entertaining, in the sense that it was too much a popcorn film. Sure, so was Casino Royale, and sure, Quantum of Solace did have a whole geopolitics plot, but it was structured so terribly that all that stood out were the action sequences, and they were hard to follow as well.

FaSho 11-16-2008 04:42 PM

Quantum of Solace, like Max Payne, just seemed to be a rip-off of actiony movies that actually had a good plotline like the Jason Bourne movies. Only differance was that Quantum and Max Payne didn't have good plotlines.

That's exactly it. Max Payne had so much potential. The games are all plot in the first place.

The problem I had with it is that it seems way too serious, and doesn't have the bond feel. I also didn't like how fast-paced the film was.

FaSho 11-16-2008 04:49 PM

Quantum did seem very rushed, leaving huge plot gaps.

Astronomer 11-16-2008 04:53 PM

I'm seeing it in a few days. I'm disappointed now!

It's not a terrible movie at all. If you feel like following, there's a plot there. It's mostly a film one would watch as a prelude to something else.

simplephysics 11-16-2008 06:22 PM

QOS was alright, Jack White taking care of theme song was pretty nifty.
SPOILER?

But him not sleeping with the bond girl? WTF.

Astronomer 11-16-2008 07:02 PM

Greatest film of the decade if not ever. Truly amazing.

Roygbiv 11-16-2008 08:29 PM

I'm going to have to agree with sweet_nothing. Children of Men was spectacular. A bit flawed, but its tough to give a crap when you're forced to go through this shellshocked journey.

It's good but certainly not the best of the decade, in fact it's a bit of a mess in parts. The hand held work is astonishing though.

kthedrummer 11-17-2008 12:54 PM

Just watched Rescue Dawn and thought it was brilliant.

Really?

The single shots scenes were just amazing

Yeah they were but the ending let the side down and the fact that it had 6 screenwriters meant is a little messy in the story department. Ignore me anyhow with age you become more cynical :D

Sparky 11-17-2008 03:18 PM

Quantum of Solace

Casino Royal-All good stuff=quantum of solace.

It was just boring for some reason. The little story in the film is horribly generic even for a bond film and sometimes hard to follow.

Probably has the lamest villain in any bond film. I loved Craig in Casino Royale, but in this film he sucks all the fun out of the character.

In fact the movie takes such a lame approach to Bond's angst they'res no fun to be had in the film period.

Made me all the more excited for Jason Statham in transporter 3 <3

Terrible Lizard 11-17-2008 06:13 PM

Saw "Let the Right One In" on Sunday, and it may be the greatest vampire movie ever made.

Astronomer 11-18-2008 12:09 AM

I just saw 'Dying Breed' it's out at the cinemas (in Australia anyway).

Was alright, I quite enjoyed it and would recommend it, although it's gonna encourage even more circulating jokes regarding Tasmania and inbreeds!
