A few dodgy band contributions aside this was chocked full of classic photos, interviews and live footage. Well worth a watch if you are into Thrash.

I finally saw The Hangover the other night after every single person who I came across told me it was the funniest movie ever, etc etc. It was okay, pretty funny and a little clever/quirky... but I wish I went and saw Transformers instead.

Same, i thought it was pretty good but no Pineapple Express or Knocked Up as far as consistent laughs went. I'll end up watching Transformers (i haven't actually watched the first one) but i doubt it'll be up my alley, most action films aren't.

Yeah I know! I love Pineapple Express and Knocked Up. Alas. Action movies aren't normally up my alley either, but I really enjoyed the first Transformers, the effects are just awesome. Although the second one goes for 2 and a half hours... most of it fighting/ action scenes apparently. Don't know if I will be able to keep my attention span up for that...

Piss Me Off 07-02-2009 08:25 PM

Effects do very little for me, they don't take anything away but they don't add anything either as far as i'm concerned. Unless it's Star Wars because i'm a loser :D I guess it's all in context.

Completely! I'm also a Star Wars 'loser.' Recently went to an exhibition where they had all the original costumes and models of spacecraft and stuff and showed how they did all the filming a special effects. Was pretty cool. Anyway.

We don't have them in England (anywhere near me) because we're crap. No need to 'anyway' at all!

I feel this wasn't a bad film and was certainly promising but dropped off a bit towards the end.

Yes, I know it's quite astonishing that I only just saw the BWP for the first time... to be frank, I thought it was a snoozefest. I think I have a problem with annoying protagonists and that neurotic cow with an overactive imagination presses all the wrong buttons. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood for the film, but it really didn't pique my interest.

My friends absolutely love this movie and I remember watching it years ago and they were seriously freaked out about it. I also thought it was a snooze fest. I thought the end was a bit freaky, though. Oh and don't even bother with the second one.

Blair Witch Project is one of those love or hate films. I happen to really like it but I can definitely understand not liking it as well. I thought Apocalypto was brilliant personally.

The new Ice Age movie. It was cute, but like the other Ice Age movies they just lack a certain something for me that I can't quite put my finger on. The character Buck (voiced by Simon Pegg) really made the movie for sure and brought the laughs.

gunnels 07-03-2009 06:51 PM

I watched Gran Torino last night.
Clint Eastwood's grunts were epic as always.

I think Blair Witch Project might also be one of those movies that you had to see when it first came out to fully enjoy it. I saw it at a midnight screening before it even had it's general theatrical release so I knew basically nothing about the movie going in except that was some kind of disturbing documentary or something. It's not that I thought it was real while I was watching it but that tiny lingering doubt in the back of my mind really helped make it an extremely creepy movie experience for me. I wouldn't be surprised if, now that's it's ten years old and very well known, it's lost a lot of its punch for someone seeing it for the first time.

One a similar note, I just watched this movie for the first time:

http://moviebanter.files.wordpress.c...s_dog_film.jpg

Man Bites Dog
I have to confess I was expecting to like it more than I did, but I wonder if it's a similar situation to Blair Witch Project, maybe if I had seen it in 1992 I would've loved it. It's definitely an interesting movie and I'd say it was definitely ahead of its time, just didn't grab me for whatever reason though.

Yeah Right!-By Girl Skateboards
http://www.videoservicecorp.com/images/yeah%20right.jpg

yeah, it's a skate video, but i'm counting it as a film. while the skating itself is great, what i really love is the use of special effects and greescreening in an almost arthouse sort of way.

plus the cameo by Owen Wilson is pretty lulzworthy.

The scene with the pregnant woman definitely tipped the film into exploitation territories for me and I think it took the film in an unwanted direction for me.

I was definitely expecting some intensity considering who was involved but I was pleasantly surprised by the introspection of the film. It was a little emotionally manipulative but still a damn good film and proof that rourke is still a brilliant actor.

You forgot to mention it is the most depressing movie ever. Very well done though.

Such a cute movie! It was nice to relax with a wine and watch this. Ryan has the seksi'st body.

I found it a little sad but not depressing at all personally. In an odd way it was kind of life affirming in that we cannot really escape from who we are whether that's for good or bad.

Re-watched Les Diaboliques. Although I've seen it before, the ending still brings about the same reaction from me.

jackhammer 07-05-2009 12:46 PM

Amazing film. Shame about the diabolical remake.

Gone Sugaring 07-05-2009 12:51 PM

Didn't even know there was a remake. Anyone well known cast in it?

The only likable characters in this movie were John Malkovich's and Brad Pitt's (though he's killed off about half in through the film). Still a good film, it help kill some time.

gunnels 07-05-2009 05:10 PM

I really like Pitt's character in that movie.
Such a weird and anticlimactic way to die though. =\

Yes the parts were he was jamming out to his ipod were some of the best parts, as for being shot in the head....well let's just say he should've came out of the closet in more than a literal sense. ;)

^ There is some serious eye candy in this flick. I'd go Shia LaBeouf. And Megan Fox.

Yeah I finally saw it last night. Really liked it! Didn't mind the length and was excited to see they set themselves up for a third.

djchameleon 07-05-2009 06:47 PM

Lars and the Real Girl

finally got around to watching this. I don't know if it was supposed to be this funny or it all was unintentional but I laughed my butt off for a majority of this movie.

I do think Ryan should have won an oscar for his performance I have to look up who he went against that yet when he was nominated.

Can we have a few lines about your thoughts on the film you have seen and not just a photo please. At least keep it interesting.

cardboard adolescent 07-06-2009 05:10 PM

for real. especially since i have that sitting on my hd but it keeps striking me as being too depressing to enjoy.

i watched Dear Wendy by Lars von Trier last night, it was entertaining.
