Definitely, they took the main idea of Mario 64 and made it a hundred times wackier. It's ruly a unique take on the 3D mario games. One of the best games on Wii for sure.

As for my favorite levels, I really liked the Battlerock Galaxy. Hey, Janszoon, have you beat "Rocky Road" yet?

best game for the wii so far imo was twilight princess, brawl was a close second.

Alfred 04-02-2009 08:54 PM

Metroid Prime 3 is my personal fave, but I haven't played Twilight Princess.

you have to man, that game is like god on a Popsicle.

Alfred 04-03-2009 02:06 PM

It's supposed to be one of the best. The 60 dollar price tag at Wal Mart throws me off though. :(

I have but damn was that level hard! Especially that part right near the end when you have to deal with the electric fence thing and the crazy moving platforms at the same time.

I liked Battle Rock galaxy a lot too. The first level of it in particular was really cool. I loved those steel saucers.

Alfred 04-03-2009 02:49 PM

Yeah, Rocky Road was a bitch. Took me many tries before I beat it.

WolfAtTheDoor 04-03-2009 09:02 PM

it's half past 3 in the morning, ive been ill all day (too ill to abuse a house party.) and all i've been doing is vegetating in bed, playing mario kart wii and super smash bros brawl.

I've unlocked everything in Brawl now, (obviously excluding the trophies and all the music - that would be godlike. just the character and stages) and it's a really good and enjoyable game. I disagree with what I've heard others say, that it's tedious when played on your own, as I find it challenging and rewarding to get to grips with each characters moveset.

I've got to say that I was disappointed by the new stages this time around, although I seem to be the only one with this particular problem. There are just no stand out stages this time around for me - many feel like remakes of 'Battlefield', just with an added gimmick. I just find myself going back to Big Blue and Corneria.

The new characters are plentiful, with Snake is particularly fun to use, when used properly. Olimar is a bit awkward, considering that attacking with him involves a lot of digging up pikmin and then throwing them - not much variation. Sonic is a surprisingly dull character, again, not much in the way of variation.

Mario Kart Wii is a little bit disappointing, I've unlocked all the courses and I'm now trying to unlock Daisy and Dry Bowser. (Can't wait to unlock the mini blue falcon kart.) The courses are mostly rehashed versions of the old mario kart courses, with there only being something like 8 new additions. Much preferred Double Dash. The new drifting system is incredibly easy to get to grips with, many people have complained about this, and even though I'd mastered drifting on Double Dash, I don't particularly mind. It's just this recurring feeling of the Wii being a half arsed port of everything else Nintendo have ever done that has got me.

Though, the nostalgia is spot on. It's satisfying karting around with Dry Bones and hearing that clattering noise whenever he's hit, just like in the days of Super Mario World. And the SNES Mario Circuit was also fun to race around again, just for old times sake. Though the battle mode - what the ****s with that? The 3 balloon system makes no sense when the balloons dont actually count for anything, and you can only be a part of a team. Not good at all.

Oh, and I think the powerups deserve a mention here. I always hope for a more original powerup each time a Mario Kart is released, not just another variation of a shell or something along those lines. Especially with the Wii controller, you'd think there'd be some innovation going on behind the scenes. But, no, they've thrown in the Pow Block and the Squid, three completely useless items that only serve to piss everyone off. The Pow Block sends everyone on the track spinning around aimlessly, which, if your vehicle has got no acceleration, will probably leave you in last place. I usually play as Bowser, so this ****s me off no end. And the Squid, which squirts a little blob of ink over everyone on the track - the point is? Just take them out, leave the Blue Shell in if you have to, but for **** sake just take them out.

I really want to see a wing-cap powerup in the next mario kart where you actually control where your kart is flying. Or maybe a fireball power-up?

I'm literally playing right now

Almost as good as the brilliant PC games.

WolfAtTheDoor 04-03-2009 09:08 PM

and also, while i'm still thinking straight, does anyone know whether theres any infomation on an f-zero game for the wii? I havent heard anything about it in like, forever. F-Zero GX was one of the best games ever.

Alfred 04-03-2009 09:11 PM

I haven't heard anything, but you can download the original F-Zero on virtual console.

WolfAtTheDoor 04-03-2009 09:12 PM

...what's virtual console...?

Alfred 04-03-2009 09:17 PM

It can be accessed through the Wii shop channel. Basically you can download games for a certain amount of Wii points (purchase a Wii points card) from past systems. I myself enjoy a good game of Mario on Virtual Console. Also purchaseable is WiiWare, which is lower-budget games that aren't quite enough to be published on actual discs, but you can download them to your Wii.

There's a "sci-fi tube shooter" called Gyrostarr that you might like. It uses Space Ships, it's loads of fun.

Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 2 is the best online game evar.

LoathsomePete 04-04-2009 10:49 AM

I couldn't find it anywhere and didn't feel like ordering it on ebay so I just downloaded Grim Fandango <33333333

Back in the day when Lucasarts made good games instead of milking the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas' teats. Anyone else miss the point and click adventure games of the '90's? I try not to surround myself in nostalgia but I have so many fond memories of trying to figure out the puzzles and listening to the brilliantly written dialogue and the characters you actually give two ****s about.

currently playing Psychonauts.

And to those talking about F-Zero, on virtual console download the N64 one. It is the high point of that series in my opinion.

Psychonauts is awesome, I bought it off Steam last week and have slowly been working my way through it. I cannot wait for Schaffer's next game "Brutal Legend"

keith! 04-13-2009 09:26 AM

same.
I bought Psychonauts off the Xbox Marketplace just out of sheer thought of, "Brutal Legend is coming out. Perhaps you should do some homework and check out some other Schafer work." So once I'm done with Psychonauts I'm moving on to Grim Fandago hopefully.

What part are you at?
*spoilers*
I'm currently trying to disguise as a doctor and I'm in the brain of a painter that can't finish a card tower because of a bull the keeps hitting it over.

Dude, I've been playing Lucasarts adventure games since Monkey Island 2 came out. Anyhow I just beat the Obstacle course, so not too far in yet, but I've been pre-occupied with my current book.

keith! 04-13-2009 09:40 AM

I have never really played much PC games. Especially point and click games.

I wasn't sure which to start off with though Monkey Island or Grim Fandago... someone from another forum said Grim Fandago might be easier to someone not into the genre so I thought I might start there.
Then someone else said Leisure Suit Larry so I ignored him >.>

I got 45, which I felt was disappointing. I love it as it's so simple and vintage. Type on!

Also, I think there's a few people on here that could improve their typing
