Have you picked up Super Mario Galaxy? Metroid Prime 3? I'd recommend those if you haven't. They both have great visuals and are very well thought-out games.

In fact, 4 gamecube controllers, as the only point of Mario Kart is to play with friends anyway... and no one likes pretending to steer.

What are you talking about? I do. Racing games on consoles just can't touch the arcades. Why hate on Nintendo for trying to bring that experience home?

You're not required to use the wiimote, but the option is out there because dammit some of us do like the wiimote.

more actual new games for the wii please.
I can agree to that. But I think people are wildly understanding the amount of good games the Wii actually has, granted it's very modest compared to all the crap for it, but the same could be said for the N64 and it's considered a classic.

coryallen2 02-24-2009 07:33 AM

nintendo is out there more for the kids...what kid wouldnt want to be mario and feeling like he was really driving...

So? What kind of criticism is that? Nintendo were always targeted towards the kids, that's why they have always been successful, this company made it big at a time when video games were primarly for kids.

Why are you so anti-childhood? Criticizing Nintendo for being childish is retarded, of course they're childish, that's their business, keeping a part of our childhood alive. It's what makes them totally unique from the competition and it would be a crucial mistake if they ever changed that.

Whats wrong with games for kids? Many of the greatest games of all time were for kids.

i wasnt being in any form a critic i was agreeing with you...lol

I'd also like to point out the irony of how most "kids" games of the 8 and 16 bit era are significantly more challenging than most of todays adult games.

Games are getting too easy these days.

I'm not a fan of actually steering with the wiimote, I'd rather properly control it - but then again, I'm not a fan of arcade driving games. If I wanted to drive I'd actually go out and drive... I want to feel like I'm actually playing a game.

And I've got all of what are considered the best games for the wii... mario galaxy, mario kart, legend of zelda, smash bros, metroid prime 3, animal crossing etcetc but I just want something more now... most of these games are good for like, half an hour every now and again, but I wouldnt say anything too engrossing. Mario Galaxy was a doddle to complete, and I would go on to get every star but I've had enough of it now... I'm not a completist. And with Legend of Zelda, I dunno... I don't feel that engaged because I'm just essentially playing a Gamecube title, and I don't want that. I'm just being picky now.

But what DOES really piss me off is the price of these controllers. To use the traditional method of buying them, actually going to the shops and not buying off the ****ing internet, it costs you £60 for the wiimote and the numchuk. Just one set. If the Wii is so geared towards whole family fun, then why the **** have the controllers that expensive... who would ever by 4 numchuks and wiimotes at these prices...

boo boo 02-24-2009 09:01 AM

Brawl and Galaxy are insanely addictive and TP is excellent.

I love the use of the wiimote for Galaxy and TP, it sucks for Brawl though.

WolfAtTheDoor 02-24-2009 09:03 AM

I pretty much bought the Wii for Brawl. Completed it in 2 days, took the days off college, got far too into it. Probably one of my more embarassing decisions.

Alfred 02-24-2009 02:26 PM

2009 seems to be about bringing more adult/mature titles to Wii.

So far we've got:

and in the near future:

the incredibly violent Madworld:
http://www.wiitalia.it/screenshots/c...08.jpg_592.jpg

The Conduit, which is expected to rival 360 and PS3 FPS games:
http://www.gamoholic.net/images/stor...heConduit5.jpg

They're making a Dead Space rail-shooter game for Wii as well, but I'm expecting that to blow.

Feign 02-24-2009 09:10 PM

I'm not one for violent games, but how can I pass up MadWorld? The style looks amazing, it's by the people behind the greatest game (Okami).

And right now I'm revisiting my DS, so mainly The World Ends With You, Ouendan 1/2, and Elite Beat Agents.

So this is what? The 12th game that is supposed to return Sega to the glory days?

It's getting awfully sad at this point.

tdoc210 02-25-2009 11:45 AM

portal (again)
sonic 2
half life 2
halo
super mario 64

Janszoon 02-25-2009 11:52 AM

I just bought Bully: Scholarship Edition yesterday. So far this game is really, really fun and entertaining.

The look of that game really reminds me of the movie Renaissance:

Yes, but I think this one has a chance. I forget where it was, but the developers thinking was pretty much "Screw Japan, let's make a game only westerners want to play." With all the hype (and according to testimonies, ability to match up with the hype) this could easily do for sega what every other game has failed to do.

Dmn fine game execpt for one chapter, fourth I think. The story gets a little convuluted and the missions get kind of old, but it picks up again.

WolfAtTheDoor 02-25-2009 03:32 PM

speaking of sega, i might go and buy that 20 games all in one handheld tomorrow... looks amazing.

Alfred 02-25-2009 03:37 PM

Madworld will probably be hard on the eyes.

Which game is this?

boo boo 02-25-2009 04:45 PM

Sega's best days may be behind them, but I've said it time and time again.

The Genesis is the best console EVAR!!!

Currently playing

Streets of Rage II
Rocket Knight Adventures
Dynamite Headdy
Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse
Toe Jam & Earl
Sonic 1

Castle of Illusion! Yeah! What about that Donald Duck/Mickey Mouse tag team game? I loved that too.

boo boo 02-25-2009 04:49 PM

World of Illusion.

A lot of the old Sega and Capcom developed Disney games were really good. Quack Shot and Aladdin for the Genesis, Ducktales and Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers for the NES and Disney's Magical Quest for SNES. Disney have handled their video game licensing a lot better than most.

NSW 02-25-2009 04:49 PM

Started playing Halo 2 again. I forgot how much fun it was...brings back the memories of LAN parties at the house, cold pizza, and drinking way more Coke and Pineapple Fanta than anyone should ever consume.

I wouldn't say their best days are behind them. I think they're going to make a comeback...it's just going to be in a completely different direction than the games of the past. It probably won't suit your tastes, but I think they'll at least be recognized for great games again.

Kamikazi Kat 02-25-2009 09:56 PM

I recently got the Orange Box and Garry's Mod for my Pc and have been playing that alot in the past week now. I didn't really want to get it for the 360, because then I would be missing out on all of the community created content, and the better community for Team Fortress 2. My friend tried playing TF2 on the 360 recently, and the community has that general 360 online community "meh" to it and not many people play it. All of that, plus Garry's Mod, and the lower price makes up for the fact that I have to sacrifice the shinier 360 graphics (my Pc can't run most of the games on higher settings).

Besides that, games like Left 4 Dead, Halo 3, and Battlefield: Bad company are always fun to play with friends.

Me and my friends played alot of LAN Halo 2 and usually get together to play Halo 3 often. So many memories.

Aladdin on Genesis was a really great game.

Well I just finished Metal Gear Solid 4... What an amazing game.

Kay I just downloaded Ocarina Of Time for Wii Virtual Console. I suck at it and it's boring so far (even though I pretty much just started). I can't figure out how to attack those flower things.

I'll give it a chance though.

Anyways, what virtual console/Wiiware games should I get next? I have 1000 wii points left, and I already have Mario 1 and 3, as well as Kirby's Adventure for VC.

Surell 03-02-2009 09:01 PM

GTA4.

Pretty sweet.

ahaha. That's the bit where you have to get past Mido, right? So surely you have a sword and sheild equipped... You just have to push A or B or something to use sword, idk I have it on N64 and PC.

Alfred 03-03-2009 02:08 PM

Eh... I'll figure it out. I was tired last night, so maybe that's why it was boring.
