Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and Rage will all be better. |
I am on a lot of games right now, I am currently working my way through “Duke Nuke’Em: Manhattan Project”, and then I am going to get into Duke Nuke’Em Forever.
On another front I am testing my skills in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s arcades, but they require some patience. I am also getting another crack at Battlefield 2: Bad Company, the seems to have these extra realistic recoil and has also integrated the disorientation that you would feel when you come out of an explosion makes it one hell of a game to play. |
anyone play the Uncharted 3 Beta multiplayer?
I had so much fun with it last night but I was getting all these treasures that I didn't even know what they counted towards and what they were for. |
I just bought Bioshock 1 and 2 on PS3 (I had them both on 360 ages ago, but traded them in with the 360 after it had to be fixed for the second time). They were cheap and I wanted the complete set when Infinite comes out, and I'm not going to complain about playing them again. 1 was £12 and 2 was £7, brand new!
This has whetted my appetite for Infinite as well. From about 1.30 in is gameplay footage. I also bought Enslaved: Odyssey to the West on PS3 for £15. Its a pretty fun platforming/action game in the mould of Uncharted, except graphically it isnt as good (screen tearing has been noted) and it does somethimes have some shoddy camera work, it'll keep me going for a while though and for the price I cant argue. It is cheaper online than I paid as well I believe. |

Pretty much the only game that keeps me going by adrenaline. |

I'm keeping my expectations low for rage. All the gameplay looks like Fallout if it had a slightly less archaic engine. |
Doom 3 was a great game.
And Rage looks nothing like Fallout. I mean...At all. |
been playing God of War 3. It's pretty damn cool. I can't remember a game this generation being this difficult on normal. the fighting is awesome, but I could do without the platforming.

No, but I believe you, I played the first one.
|
It's harder on Easy than most games are on hard. Lol.
I had less trouble with the first than I did with the second. |

Red Dead Redemption - XBOX 360
http://newbreview.com/wp-content/upl...edemption0.jpg It's awesome. Great graphics, gameplay, and the storyline is solid so far. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and it's been nothing but fun so far. |

It'll get ported to pc sooner or later, like...it has to
|
I'd be really surprised if it wasn't. The other big Rockstar games were all ported AFAIK.

Anyway, I recently picked up the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time while on vacation. It's pretty good so far, so I'm glad that I actually have something to do this summer. |

Anyways, here is a source is anyone else is curious. BioShock Infinite features Move functionality, free BioShock 1 on PS3 | Joystiq granted it's just a blog site but I'm a bit too lazy to go find something more official |
Playing F3AR on xbox, 2 players!
|
I just started play Demon's Souls today. I really like the combat system, the story is kinda just there, and it's frickin hard.
EDIT: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1180810p1.html Talk about bull****... If you buy a game used you have to pay to be able to use online services. Also, I'm not sure why you would rent a game with this. |
It's not bull. I don't know much about the PSN one, but I know with EA's, it's the game companies trying to get money from games that they should rightfully make. I have no problem with it.
They make NO money off of used game sales. Also, you could rent, because places like Blockbuster do not take the codes out of the boxes. |
It's a one time use code for the PSN thing, don't know about EA.
For $60 per game you should be buying unlimited use of the game. |
Thats not the problem. You get unlimited use, once you use the code, that comes with the full game.
If you buy it used (not full price) the company (EA, THQ, Sony, whoever) missed out on a sale of the game, and the only way to make money is on the code. Because they make literally NO money on the used sale prices. Personally, I think it's fair. |
Making online available to 1 person isn't unlimited use.
Don't get me started on downloadable content pricing. |
Making games is so unbelievably expensive these days many smaller studio's end up having to close if they're game doesn't sell well.
I can totally understand why developers are trying to fight used game sales, especially with Gamestop being so predominant. I think they're best bet however is to adopt a steam model or downloadable distribution, which is happening more on PSN, but unfortunately because of Microsofts limitations, isn't as easy on XBL. I think it will be the primary distribution method come next gen/ |

And used game sales has existed for a LONG time, so it's not like some new fad. Why's it a big deal all the sudden now? This won't stop me buying used games (well it wouldn't, if I had a PS3) because most of the time I couldn't care less about multiplayer. |
Quote:
Honestly, I'd like to see them trim back their budgets a bit and create more games instead of throwing so much money into fewer games. |
if by buying used games, you don't have a net connection for it, i'd rather buy pirated

Game sales are also much bigger then they were 10-15 years ago, and thanks to the internet, are really the only disc-based media still selling. Movies and music sure aren't selling hard copies. Game developers work ridiculously hard hours, I'm not going to assume that their motivation for wanting to sell their game is inherently mischievous. |
Bought Portal 2 and BFBC2+DLC in the steam summer sale. 25 and 10 dollars respectively. I've got some gaming to do
|
just got:-
Midway Arcade Treasures 3 - just for completion sakes, as i got the other two, ragtag of PSOne-ish racing games except for the retro classic S.T.U.N. Runner and the sequel to the race simulation Hard Drivin', Race Drivin', which is hellishly fun to play on manual transmission Panzer Front, Ausf. B - strategy/tank simulation, which I think I ought to get the manual to |

It's pretty forgettable as a horror game but it's at least competent as a tactical shooter. |
|
really wanna get that. Suda 51 is the homie

there's been a significant resurgence of independent developers releasing on the cheap for the last few years now. look at the amount of gaming apps available for any phone. HUGE market and it's starting to cross over into the pc market again, and with digital distribution being built into modern consoles the indie devs are actually provided with more opportunities than they've ever had. you won't necessarily get a Ferrari out of the deal but you can make a living. the groups fighting the used game sales at Gamestop etc. are the established publishers, they're also the ones who control most of the money and the overall direction of any project that needs venture capital to get moving. it's the same logic that's running most large entertainment studios music, movies, tv, whatever into the ground - don't take a real risk / rehash rehash rehash / new paintjob = new product - aka Capcom. really though, thanks for the 153rd Street Fighter game in a row $60 brand new... really. the idea that a used sale is a loss for the developer is a fallacy. the consumer who buys used does so because they are not willing to pay new prices; it's either used or pirated - neither provides back to the developer, and only one helps the business that caters to the particular interest. also The Witcher2 is $35 at gamestop this week picked it up tonight :thumb: |
