This post mostly supports what I'm saying. I said their best bet to to support a downloadable distribution method. However, just because their is a booming market with apps, doesn't necessarily mean it will equal success on the consoles all that soon. A lot of those games are cheap and meant to be played for 2 minutes, I still believe people play console games for a 8+ hour expireance, excluding multi player. If your trying to release a "full length" game for download only on consoles your talking 30 gigs, and then you have to hope all the people interested in your game have a hard drive. I'm not even talking about indie games necessarily. More along the lines of a "grasshopper" studio's who's games get limited distribution already and need a decent sales figure ( and meta score) to get the greenlight for the next project. The person who buys used isn't necessarily a cheapass, he might just walk into the store and notice that an identical-looking copy of the game is five dollars cheaper so why the **** not. It's the same guy who ends up getting an edge card and a subscription to game informer. The casual consumer is more likely to buy used . It's really only the japanese market running things to the ground, ubisoft and ea lower the prices of their games aggressively, and make sure to release some new ip's every year. I can sympathize with developers for trying to fight used game sales. It isn't just gamestop anymore either-best buy, target, walmart, etc are all adding used game sales. Your seriously going to tell me every giant corporate chain selling used games won't see some kind of effect on sales? |
Just finished Act 1 on Gears Of War 1

A bit off topic, I just bought an amazing poster. I saw it and could not let it pass.
Here it is. One of the best things i've ever seen. Back on topic: Been playing Ms. Splosion Man and my final playthrough of Shadows of the Damned. |

I was playing Legends Of Wrestlemania and GTA Vice City today.

I may be a bit late to the bandwagon, but I just got my broken PS3 finally replaced a couple of weeks ago and so bought this:
http://moonbooks.net/wp-content/uplo...-cover-art.jpg Enjoying it so far. A couple of people I know have complained that it gets rather repetitive after a while but I haven't started to get bored of it yet myself. |

yeah, after hours game of choice. mindless, but more importantly, fun. http://www.consoleclassix.com/info_i...creenShot1.jpg a bit of nostalgia, haven't played this title in like 6 years. |

It gets very repetitive. If you ever replay any of the cases you'll be so aggravated. I absolutely loved the game, and ended up selling it because there's not a lot to keep you coming back. |

They released the last announced DLC case a couple days ago. They're only fun once, like the normal cases.
|
I'm late to the party in both cases, but thanks to the wonders of Steam I've been playing two very retro games that I've always meant to get: Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and Half-Life 2. I've put hours and hours into Morrowind already due to it being bloody amazing in every way, but Half Life is slowly wasting more and more of my time. I reckon I should try and enjoy them in moderation, but they're too beautiful.
|
^Those are two of my favorite games ever. Morrowind is probably the best game ever made for just exploring around and finding awesome shit, and Half Life 2's gameplay is just so seamless.
|
Downloaded the Rom for Majora's Mask, was about 10 minutes in, and I couldn't find the ****ing fairy, so I just quit. I'm sure it's a great game though.
|
Was mucking around on GTA San Andreas. Those games are awesome.
|
Finished Shadows of the Damned and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.
Getting very close to 100,000 Gamerscore. |

Playing Oblivion for the third time, getting excited for Skyrim. Unfortunately though I'm making myself wait until the second semester to buy it because it comes out right when i'm doing college applications, and I know if I have it then I'll be like "fuck college, I'm gonna be an elf"

I'm hesistant to play oblivion because the combat seems so amazingly boring.
|
Its not. Oblivion is amazing.
Also, just finished up Old World Blues DLC for New Vegas. Great DLC, or Greatest DLC? It was absolutely ****ing amazing. Around ten hours played, too. |
Yea, that looks great too. I guess I will snatch both.

I'm pissed off that the release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a week before school starts up again for the fall semester. That is really the only game that I've been looking forward to, and the Deus Ex series has always been one that takes time and effort to truly get your money's worth. I might go get Catherine tomorrow though because it looks pretty intriguing and I mean... what the fuck else is coming out until October/November?

it's coming out at the end of August I believe. I reserved it but don't remember the exact date. |
How is the Driver series event relevant in this day and age? I mean the first one was fun when it came out, having the high speed pursuits were intense, but then Grand Theft Auto III came out and let me have high speed pursuits followed by lengthy gun fights, and now that's become the standard in any contemporary open world sandbox game. Also it would have been nice if the trailer actually gave some clue as to what the game is suppose to be about or introduce you to characters that make you intrigued enough to buy it.
|
There has only been one main character for the Driver series, there is this cool feature where you can transfer from car to car because he's in some sort of coma. It's a weird storyline. They tried the whole on foot crap for Driver 3 and it was so ****ty. I'm glad they are getting away from that and going back to what made it an awesome series. Not ever game that comes out needs to be a Grand Theft Auto clone, lord knows we have enough of those out already.

thanks to Steam putting this up as Free to Play (FOREVER), i finally have the chance to play this game, and it is AWESOME also, got these games as well for really cheap. less than $4 or each! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0lWR5C_TpW...hu-Boxart7.jpg http://moonbooks.net/wp-content/uplo.../BoD-cover.jpg http://www.wired.com/geekdad/wp-cont...go-660x288.jpg http://www.logler.com/gameimages/mr-...obot_large.jpg |
