I'm not saying you should take them as gospel, but when the only other console games to acheive the 10/10 honour are Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA IV, and Super Mario Galaxy 2, I have a feeling I'm going to get my money's worth.
And Uncharted will always be about the single player. The supposedly massive upgrade in multiplayer is just a bonus. Also, the Uncharted series is done by Naughty Dog, who focus just on this series for the PS3. I'm not sure how much reputation they'd have with a review site like you say Activision does. |

Welp... I just finished the campaign. (I pre-loaded the game, then used a Korean proxy to fool the date check into unlocking the game when I got home from school today... it's all the rage right now) I just gotta say... Not the best campaign ever, but there were some good highlights. The Russian missions were great. The jet mission was ok. And there were moments here and there. The ending seemed a bit anti-climatic and rushed. But overall, it was fun to play. Graphics were amazing throughout, but one thing that put me off is there is a CONSTANT lense flare, no matter what. It gets in the way at some parts. I also didn't much like the whole "interact with the cutscene" thing that requires you to press certain buttons at certain times, or else you fail the mission. The idea is nice, but it doesn't really add anything, imo. Anyway, now that it's out of the way, I can focus on MP. There are populated servers up right now so I guess I'll try to get in them. At 12AM, I guess all hell is going to break loose, so I may as well get a short head start. See ya on the battlefield. |
still undecided whether to get Namco Museum
lots of games I don't particularly like |

Not much changed between 1 and 2? They added a substantial multiplier mode(co op too), massive upgrade in graphics and presentation, new campaign, new voice work, new score, new art direction, new motion capture, fixed controls, What more could you want for a sequel, you want them to make it into a kart racing game(actually sounds cool) or something? I don't know if you pay attention to the japanese game market, but they've been making the same exact games for years now-pokemon, monster hunter, megaman __, street fighter. Point out to me a franchise that made a total change between games. It's not even that your point is invalid, it's just something I've noticed a lot in game press/forums and doesn't make sense to me. |
Enough babble about Uncharted 3! (ok i'm just pissed that i don't get to play it...)
Let's talk about something that we all knew was coming, but I still can't wait to come out: Grand Theft Auto 5 Officially Announced - Xbox 360 News at IGN http://www.rockstargames.com/ |
I burnt myself out with Vice City. San Andreas, 4, and Red Dead did about nothing for me.

So, how's BF3? I'm on the fence whether or not I'll be buying this(PC), for the multiplayer of course.
|
bought Namco Museum for the PS2, has:-
Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaxian, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Pole Position II, Pac-Mania, Galaga, Galaga '88, Mappy, Bosconian, Skykid, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, Rolling Thunder and Rally X. my copy being a pirated copy also has an RPG called Namco X Capcom |
i've also been playing Taito Legends on the PS2, which has:-
Space Invaders (1978) Space Invaders II (1980) Return of the Invaders (1985) Bubble Bobble (1986) Elevator Action (1983) Rastan (1987) The New Zealand Story (1988) Plotting (1989) Jungle Hunt (1982) Operation Wolf (1987) Operation Thunderbolt (1988) Rainbow Islands (1987) Phoenix (1980) Colony 7 (1981) Electric YoYo (1982) Zoo Keeper (1982) Great Swordsman (1984) Gladiator (1986) Exzisus (1987) Plump Pop (1987) Super Qix (1987) Battle Shark (1989) Continental Circus (1989) Volfied (1989) Ninja Kids (1990) Space Gun (1990) ThunderFox (1990) Tube It (1993) Tokio (1986) |

Also, is anyone else getting frustrated with the jets? Every time I hop in one, I get shot down within ~20 seconds. And because I get show down so quickly, I can't kill anything, and I can't get any points to unlock the flares, which would prevent me from getting shot down so quickly. Stupid vicious circle |
Really looking forward to that Zelda game coming out next month (I knew there was a reason why I own a Wii). Early reviews are saying it's exceptional and some are saying it's the best ever. We'll have to wait and see. Can't see anything topping Ocarina of Time.
|
I think Wind Waker and maybe Majora's Mask were technically superior. Twilight was too bloated.
OoT has an edge with the nostalgia and novelty of it. Finally a reason to buy a new Wii controller with motion plus inside. I think the game is going to be excellent. I'm afraid it's going to be too similar to TP (I hated wolf form, and there seems to be an equivalent in Skyward). |
I haven't actually finished Ocarina of Time, but 6 hours in or so, I felt A Link to the Past (SNES), Link's Awakening (GB) and Wind Waker (GC) were more entertaining. Either it will have to pick up tremendously or it's overrated.
|
Yep, they gradually progressed after it.

I was referring to the 3D games, I haven't played any 2D ones.
|
Majora's Mask was voted the best game of all time by the users at Gamefaqs, but I'm pretty sure that was because they voted Ocarina of Time outat an earlier date and felt bad for it.
Anyway, I haven't been playing anything new lately (just copious amounts of New Vegas and Medieval 2), but hopefully I'll finally sort out Skyrim in the next 15 days. |
I've been playing Starcraft 2 a lot lately, and I'm actually starting to get decent. It helps my friend is in masters.
I'm also about to get MGS4. That should hold me until Skyrim, and that will certainly hold me until Skyward Sword, and hopefully the wait for Diablo 3 will be less painful. |
LOlL!
|
dude thats super funny xD
|
His posts got deleted, now we look like retards.
Anyway, I finally unlocked the flares for my jet. Very next game, went on a rampage, flew around for 20 minutes, spotting and shooting everything. Then I unlocked heatseekers and I haven't lost a dogfight yet. BF3 is wicked fun now |
I'll stick to the chopper. Jets aren't doing it for me.
I love this game, though. |

I think Wind Waker is my favorite if you bar the nostalgia factor of Ocarina. I think it was well received, but Zelda games have never been a phenomenon. They've always been at the edges of the mainstream.
I think most people are fans of the cel-shading, everyone I know that has played it is. I'm a big fan of it's dungeons and the overworld too. The reactive attacks (hit A quickly) add something to the combat as well. I fully expect Skyward Sword to become my favorite so long as it isn't severely bloated. I think the combat is going to be excellent. |
hey, if any of you guys are familiar with TotalBiscuit's WTF is... series (he's a british guy who does first impressions of various types of games, I think it's pretty entertaining myself), he's currently doing a 12 hour WTF is-A-Thon where he's playing all sorts of random cheap and free indie titles.
Totalbiscuit also, what do you guys think of Let's Plays? do you like them or do you find yourself bored with them? |
Up to chapter 6 in Uncharted 3. So ****ing awesome. They've really upped the game since 2.

And I enjoy those thoroughly. |
rage-
really underwhelmed at first, but it's steady growing on me. The story is really underwhelming, a shame since it has really good production values otherwise. |
Video game stories need a remake far worse than comic-book movies ever did.
|
Seriously, it's like developers hire a bunch of monkeys with typewriters to write their story lines
Then they take what the monkeys **** out and interject a hundred terrible cliches and overused tropes pertaining to whatever genre the game is |
Battlefield 3's story seems to suffer from the same issue. I was expecting it to be a lot more realistic, but so far it's shaping to be just like the Modern Warfare games. Good thing I got it for the multiplayer.
|
I've found PC games over the last decade or so have really retained their ability to excel in both the gameplay and story aspects of the game. It's definitely not as good as in the '90's, when gameplay and graphical limitations were made up for with well written stories and voice acting, in this day and age when games cost millions of dollars to make, that the story and narrative department will be allocated less money than the gameplay department. Also as multiplayer has continued to dominate the playing incentive, this trend will probably most likely continue, while we're still given a few games a year that treat the story as an integral part of the game.
If you are a gamer who seeks their satisfaction, not in kill streaks and perks, but in watching a well designed narrative unfold, then you really owe it to yourselves to support the games that do do this. Games like the Mass Effect series or the BioShock series, or even ones like L.A. Noire, which while being far from perfect, did at least attempt to appease both audiences. |
Up to Chapter 21 in Uncharted 3, which has to be near the end now. I don't think I've enjoyed a single player game this much on a next-gen console. Bioshock held that title up until now, but this game just has absolutely everything going for it. Compared to Uncharted 2, it just looks better and they have a better mix of action, puzzles, etc. The main thing though is that this game has really upped the "wow" factor where they put you in these unique cinematic situations to play through that I haven't seen anywhere else. Definitely making a case for one of my favourite games of all time.
