At the moment I'm playing through Infinate Undiscovery on the XBox 360 and noticing it's just a watered down version of Final Fantasy XII without the Gambits and a few extra added features... The storyline's pretty shabby too. That's all I really have to say. ^^"

Those too. I play like 5 hours a day lol Pro Clubs FTW

Howard the Duck 11-06-2011 12:09 PM

i was going through my SNES emulator just now

i thought it had only 200 games, turns out it has closer to 400

i've already played through those "acclaimed" SNES games that I didn't as a teen, which are those Castlevania games, Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda : Link to the Past, Battletoads

also had some favourites like Super Double Dragon, and an old Atari games emulator, with Missile Command, Asteroids, Breakout etc (which brings me back to being a 9 y.o. kid)

I'm liking it.

Skyrim. Four days. I don't have it ordered. F. U. C. K.

I'll just entertain myself by running up to random people and shouting 'Fus ro dah!' in the hope that I'll knock them off their feet.

I need to order that too, i'm honestly scared of the negative impact it will have in my life.

RVCA 11-07-2011 11:55 AM

I think I'm just gonna download Skyrim from Steam

the good part is, I'm getting two big midterms out of the way this week...

Thom Yorke 11-07-2011 12:00 PM

I've never played an Elder Scrolls game but I'm interested to check this one out with all the hype it's getting. Is it a big deal not to have played the other ones or is it kind of like GTA where all of the games are the same idea but the stories aren't connected?

The story is only vaguely related as far as I can tell, but it helps to be familiar with the lore (as all the games are based on the same continent) and the gameplay. If you've ever played Fallout, it's pretty similar to that.

Also, here's a gameplay video from someone who got it early. Pretty good glimpse into what the game is like, but the hosting site is just terrible. Buffering takes forever and there are ads galore.

Thom Yorke 11-07-2011 12:09 PM

Alright thanks. Yeah I've heard the Fallout comparison, and I love Fallout. I guess I'd be checking it out either way with teh amount of hype it's getting though.

Kirby 11-07-2011 07:38 PM

I just 100%'d Sonic Generations.
It was pretty ****ing good.

Also, this now..

I'm so ridiculously happy.

Rage Against the Machine 11-10-2011 01:00 AM

Skyrim midnight release tomorrow. I know I'm gonna get ****ed by schoolwork once I get it but I'm still ridiculously excited

debaserr 11-10-2011 03:00 AM

I got to play the Skyward Sword E3 demo.

It was pretty awesome.

Alfred 11-10-2011 02:34 PM

Skyrim should be arriving at my house tomorrow or the next day. Looks like Battlefield 3 is going back on the shelf for a while.

debaserr 11-10-2011 03:38 PM

I'm getting rimmed so hard right now.

Unknown Soldier 11-10-2011 04:59 PM

Picked up "Driver" second hand the other day, what do you guys think of it?

the original "Driver"? or "Driv3r"? or "Parallel Lines"?

the original "Driver" was pretty ahead of its time, and "Grand Theft Auto 3" took a lot from its free-form missions

"Driv3r" is pretty boring and a cash-in on the GTA series, it's insanely diffcult as well

"Parallel Lines" is a retun to form, but still no great shakes - it at least has pretty interesting missions

The original was okay for it's time, I do remember having a lot of fun just driving around San Francisco, splitting my time seeing how long I could get a police chase going, and how long I could be a responsible driver. The free roam was great, but the missions were kind of lackluster because there's really only so much you can do with the gameplay mechanic of driving. The sequel tried to improve on it by letting you get out of the car... but it still didn't make the game any less dull. I never got around to playing Drivthreer because I had Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas so the series kind of seemed pointless to me now. Didn't even know there were anymore games from that franchise until I saw a trailer for Driver: San Francisco, but again I have Grand Theft Auto IV plus The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

I`m talking about the latest game "Driver San Francisco"

The last Driver game I played must have been back in the 00s, as since then the GTA series has pretty much cornered the driving game market.

Talking about Rockstar, I`m still playing LA Noire and really love the game with its investigations and driving around a 1940s LA.

debaserr 11-11-2011 01:59 PM

Wow, really pleasantly surprised by Skyrim. There are a ton of awesome set pieces which I really wasn't expecting. That, and everything else.

Phantom Limb 11-11-2011 02:06 PM

What kind of character is everyone making? I'm an argonian who specializes in one-handed weapons, destruction magic, and light armor.

debaserr 11-11-2011 03:37 PM

Wow, Skyward Sword is out now too...

And I just got into the Tribes Ascend beta.

I'm crossing my fingers for D3 beta too, lol.

Went with a Khajiit (I think that's how you spell it). There's no astro signs or anything in this game though, so do you just mean what skills am I working hardest to improve?

Coming out on the 20th (in NA), isn't it? Reviews are out though and it's doing really well. Alot of people saying it's the best Zelda game ever.

Every Zelda game gets rave reviews, the last instalment I thought was pretty spectacular but I thought it was let down by the big budget LOTR style and feel to it, I prefer the more straightforward classic Zelda style in general. Despite that though, I think the Wind Waker is the best and most memorable game.

Yeah I sometimes think game critics feel an obligation to ride Mario and Zelda's dicks cause they're the untouchable franchises or something.

Admittedly every mario and zelda game I`ve ever played has been addictive and fantastic. The only Mario game I wasn`t mad on was Super Mario Sunshine and I thought it was harder than it should be and the graphics of Mario etc were smaller than normal, but yer I know what you mean they always get like 95% or above!!!! same with the metal gear solid series as well.

Or perhaps Mario and Zelda games receive universal critical acclaim because, oh I don't know, they are typically excellent games?

debaserr 11-11-2011 04:36 PM

I will post back with some impressions later on. Skyrim will have to take the back seat for now.

Blasphemy! :yikes:

Isn't it not out for another 2 weeks though? Plenty of time for Skyrim.

It's pretty epic. I like it better than 4. There's a lot of newer features that are kind of similar to other Bethesda games. It works really well.

Unknown Soldier 11-12-2011 03:17 AM

I never played an Elder Scrolls game, so this will probably be my chance considering how great people think it will be. Out of interest what do members find great about the Elder Scrolls series?

i've only played Morrowind - i find it too large and there's too many things to do, so i do tend to wander aimlessly in it

Immersion-- it's the most complete fantasy world outside of Lord of the Rings that I've yet experienced.

Well, other than the fact that Morrowind is the greatest game ever made? They're well known for their unintentionally hilarious bad points (Oblivion's terrible, terrible voice acting being a prime example) but they really just add to the spirit of the game. With Oblivion in particular, you can just play off the bat with no experience and wander doing whatever the hell you want for hours upon hours, with no true obligations or master beyond the map edges. I'm guessing Skyrim's the same, but guess who still doesn't have it?
