Does anyone know if GRRM's plan is to still write 7 books? The little epilogue at the end of AFFC and prelude for ADWD made it seem like he envisioned the 4th and 5th books to be one book. Also, hearing him in interviews, he says he has the main story mapped out, but doesn't know exactly all that's going to happen along the way. Makes me wonder if he's going to stretch the books out.

I can't imagine how he could possibly wrap up all the plots going on right now in two books, not unless each book is 1200 pages long.

I hope he doesn't do a David Gemmel on it and die on the last most important book, only so that his wife can finish it.

I've actually considered that quite a few times. I hate to be morbid, but the guy's not far off his 70s now, and he does not get through writing his books quickly at all. I think he likely will manage to finish them all but he might not be able to pull it off in time for the final season of the show. Although they seem to be pushing to give him time as they've split book three and will probably split book five as well.

I don't know who annoys me more, the people who don't ever give this show a chance purely based on the fact that it is fantasy and thus not worth regarding, or the people who are history/ book series snobs and pick out the littlest things in a mostly, well made, show.
