So I decided to start my own journal since I want a place where to write my thoughts about my own life and the music I listen to. Mainly I want to write this now since I can write about music and other topics that touch my life and then later look back on all the stuff that's happened to me and what I have been listening to while going through these things. I wish I had started this in fall since I was still badly depressed back then and the music I listened to went pretty much hand in hand with my emotions.
Also I'm going to write alot about finnish music so if you're atleast a bit interested in the music scene in Finland you might want to check this thread out.

Crywank - James Is Going To Die Soon

This album is just so great. One of my favorite ones from last year and I listened to this alot when I broke up with my then girlfriend.

"Did I make it too easy to hurt me?"

The Antlers - Hospice

One of the saddest albums I've ever heard. The lyrics on Two really crushed me since this part felt so personal to me: "Tell me when you think that we became so unhappy? Wearing silver rings with nobody clapping. When we moved here together we were so disappointed. Sleeping out of tune with our dreams disjointed"

S - I'm Not As Good At It As You

Really great album from Jenn Ghetto.

Hospice was also my selection for feeling miserable to in 2009. The thinking it inspires in me is so unhealthy that I have not listened to it in the longest time. The day I listen to Hospice and feel that none of it applies will be a very successful day.

Pariisin Kevät

I decided to start writing about finnish artists/bands with Pariisin Kevät since I've been listening to him non stop since last week when I went to see him with my friends (the gig was really nice) and it's also one of my favorite bands coming from Finland.
Pariisin Kevät (Spring of Paris in english) is the project of Arto Tuunela aka Arthur Tunes. Pariisin Kevät plays indie, electropop with finnish lyrics. I'm not usually that big fan of finish lyrics but I just can't seem to stop listening to this. Pariisin Kevät released its first full length album Meteoriitti (meteorite in english) in 2008 and the latest album Astronautti (astronaut in english) was released in 2010. Pariisin Kevät is hugely popular in Finland and both it's albums have been greeted with praise by the public and critics. Although Pariisin Kevät was hugely wanted to play live the band didn't perform live until in the summer of 2010.

I love both albums but Astronautti is by far the best one. It's propably the most addicting album I've ever listened to.

I spent a year in Rovaniemi, one week

. Aside from being cold and dark there's a lot of Santa impersonators & reindeer way up north of the Arctic Circle. I visited the Arctic Indigenous Peoples Office at University of Lapland and attended an international conference of indigenous people from all over the world. There were indigenous tribal members from Iceland, Siberia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, the Southwest, Northeastern & Northwestern USA, New Zealand, Samoa and the Philippines. That was some pow-wow.

I'm a big fan of the Scandinavian music scene but all Americans hear is mostly Swedish music and Icelandic music (thanks to international popularity of Bjork & Sigur Rós). All I've ever heard about Finland music is related to death metal bands. Music Banter is in dire need of a music correspondent from Finland to educate us on Finnish music.

Nice to hear about your trip to Finland

I'm propably going to be talking about other Scandinavian music in this thread since most of my favorite music comes from Sweden. But I can guarantee that I'm going to introduce people to alot of Finnish bands that I enjoy listening to. I won't be talking about Finnish metal scene though since I don't enoy that kind of music myself.

Today was pretty fun even though I had a long day in school for the first time this year. It was also my friends birthday so we all went to drink a few drinks to this bar/coffee place that we like to go to. I didn't drink anything though.
Today I also realised that the Jeniferever gig I was planning to go see next month was free entry. I would have paid for it but free entry is always nice. Incase you haven't heard about Jeniferever they are a nice post-rock/indie band from Sweden. I'm completely in love with all these swedish post-rock bands

Today I also found some pretty nice swedish screamo/hardcore

I haven't listened to anything that new to me these past days. but here is some great stuff I've been listening to lately.

As Cities Burn - The Widow (Live from Cornerstone 2007)

I've loved these band for years now and I've been listening to their debut album Son I Loved You At Your Darkest while driving (and crashing). This song is from that album and this clip is perhaps the most emotional thing I've ever seen in my life. If you don't know the band go check them out. Sadly their not active anymore but they released three great albums. The first one is post-hardcore and the later ones are indie rock.

Villa Nah - Ways To Be (Roland Sessions)

This is some really great finnish indie synth pop. This is just perfect melancholic music for night time when I think about my life and such...

I Hate Myself - Caught In A Flood
