Poor Mestmed.
Joins a forum, eager to talk about what he erroneously thinks to be good and 'real' music, and gets **** from literally everyone here.

I only know this because my mom used to be a Celine Dion fanatic, and she owned most of her discography through 2002's A New Day Has Come.
She also had a hit with this song.

Regardless of what you think of her, Mariah Carey has a heck of a vocal range. She even won a guiness record for highest note ever recorded. I remember hearing a while back that she could even open garage doors with her voice...which could come in handy if you lost your clicker

Celine Dion won Eurovision for Switzerland in 1988 with this song..that's a pretty big deal (if you are into Eurovision like me ):

I heard that one time during a concert Mariah reached such a high pitch she opened up a wormhole to another universe.

I heard that whenever she performs near the ocean dolphins start spontaneously beaching themselves.

I'm assuming that means she called Guinness just so they could come all the way down out to one of her concerts and honor her in their book?

1.) That's hella douchey.

2.) I doubt Guinness people are just roaming the countryside looking for singers, so I imagine there's a pretty small pool of candidates who've competed for that award.

Neither of the things bolded are in any way an automatic indication of talent. Observe!

I wonder if in that universe there was a duplicate of her, identical in every way, except that she could actually sing?

I don't think any of us are questioning her singing ability, just her ability to make us care.

Not my cuppa tea personally, but I sympathise with what you're feeling. I loved rock n roll and that disappeared too, leaving nothing but a smear called rock. I loved goa trance, that vanished, leaving psy trance. But what can you do? Stuff changes. You gotta roll with it.
